That girl has some serious depression or bipolar issues. Its not always drugs. I think people jump to that conclusion because its the "easiest" one.

Now I really want to know what Lynne Spears' book would have said about raising children. When you're child has a nervous
breakdown, I want to read that chapter.
ps. Sorry to be nosey but Ashley, I thought you had a like a bazillion posts? |

I'm leaning towards bi polar. Many times these issues manifest in the early 20's. It can have a genetic connection but also be influenced by
environment and if anyone has a had an abnormal environment it's her.

Aurelia...I tend to agree. She exhibits, from what I can see from news reports, the actions of someone who is bi-polar. If this is the case, her son's are
better off w/ Kevin until she is treated and stays that way. Having known a few personally, it's a sad thing because most of them truly don't realize
they are sick. My grandmother and hubby's grandmother & mom all bi-polar..they are SUCH great people when they aren't into one of their manic
phases...unfortunately the mania, be it up or down has burned far too many bridges and wore us out. We have very limited contact. It's just too eerie
watching it happen...and I do feel compassion for Britney.

It seems this breakdown is actually long overdue. If she was bi-polar, why is it presenting itself now unless she's been on meds all these years and is now
off them and is unraveling. Untreated post pardem depression sounds likely as well, but I think she's been under the influence of some type of substance
before and maybe she's going through withdrawal now and isn't handling it well now that she's in a custody battle. Lord help the child.

My sister is bi-polar, as are a few other extended family members, and I'd guess that's what's wrong. I mean, I'm not a doctor, but all signs
point to that.
I can see that yes, she's gotten worse since she had children, but the marrying a friend in Vegas? That's got manic written all over it. However, women with bi-polar are at a much higher risk of PPD and PPP. I hope she can get the help she needs. Knowing what my sister has been through - I just hope Britney gets help from people who really, honestly care about her welfare. * Dangerously Crafty - the blog * Auditory Images - concert photography * |

Britney Spears's new boyfriend - a Birmingham-born paparazzi photographer - has been touting around intimate pictures taken of them together in recent days with a staggering £500,000 price tag Oh dear...what to make of it. |

I think that's one of the only smart things she is doing. Use the paparazzi to make money, they invaded HER life, why not work it to her advantage. A down
side to it is that even if she is controlling what gets out the pictures still paint the "crazy" picture. Oh and also she looks like a crazy slut
hooking up with a married pap.

All of the crazy sexual stuff is also a bi-polar characteristic.
When I was a teenager and my uncle was in a mania phase he came to visit us unexpectedly one time (the quick and unexpected trips here and there are also a mania trait) he couldn't stop talking about how the stewardesses wanted him sooo bad and they were eyeing his package and basically saying all kinds of inappropriate sexual things. He was very unkempt at the time and not much to look at anyway and he would have never have said those kinds of things to his sister or in front of his neices before. The way Britney is hooking up with randoms left and right, totally thinks she's hot stuff when she's not, making crazy rash decisions to drop trow in the middle of a lingerie store, and on and on all seem very familiar to anyone who's ever witnessed someone bi-polar off their meds and on a mania high. And again, she's had tendencies all along, but the majority of these things don't come full on until the early 20's. She is 26 now and all kinds of crazy began a few years ago. I think the Vegas wedding followed by the quick hookup with Kevin were early signs and then after the two kids and the divorce it kicked into high gear. It sounds from what is being said in the media that she was actually given this diagnosis awhile back but refuses to acknowledge it or take meds and then pushed her family and closest friends and advisors away when they tried to say anything. I'm not sure what is going to happen next if someone can't convince her she needs help. Aurelia |

Good synopsis Rea. And isn't it true when in these manic states they enjoy it so much that they wouldn't want to take meds, or the meds change how they
feel so they crave the manic state?

Sort of. First of all your judgement is clouded in the first place. Your disease is telling you that you're wonderful and charming and everyone loves you
so trying to convince someone in that state that that is not the case is the first hard step.
Then, if you can get them to take the meds and they begin to come down to normal levels and have to face the realities of what they were really doing and how it was perceived it can be very depressing. The mania state does offer a great feeling at times (kind of like a drug but one of your body's own making) and the urge to just give in to that or to convince yourself that you are fine and you can handle it without the meds is very tempting. Of course, the other side of bi-polar is the depression. And if the mania is extreme so is the depression. It can be very dangerous when it hits out of nowhere especially coming off of such a manic high. Aurelia |

DP to add, though not exact, this is one of those illnesses that is thought to have a genetic link, mother to son, father to daughter. So it would make sense
to look at her father and or his brothers and her paternal grandmother.
In my family it was my mother's mother and then it also hit my mother's brother. She also has another brother who, although not bi-polar, has had some depression issues. Aurelia |

It took a long time for my brother to be convinced that he wanted meds because he liked his mania so much. He's healthy now and I am so happy for him.

My husband's 13 year old half sister is bi-polar and she often refuses meds for a week, but then goes back on them.

I'm hypomanic - low grade, constant mania. It basically means I have to make sure to keep what seems like a very energetic personality in check. It's
really not that obvious, as far as mental health conditions are concerned.
I've gone manic once in the last few years and there's seriously, seriously nothing like it. I'm lucky that I'm not bipolar - the crashing is what usually hurts people the most - that's when the suicides happen. When you're manic though, you're smarter, cuter, more sure of yourself. Oh, and you don't need food or sleep. Seriously. It's like lightning in your veins. I can understand why someone in the manic part of bi-polar disorder would refuse medication. I - obviously - know why they need it, but I can see how from their point of view, why mess with a good thing? * Dangerously Crafty - the blog * Auditory Images - concert photography * |

New info from her breakdown:
- When the cops showed up, Britney was locked in the master bathroom with Jayden James. - Britney refused to come out for nearly three hours. When she did, all she was wearing was panties. - Britney was incoherent, screaming at the cops, "What the f*** are you doing in my house? I know who you are." She continued ranting, "I don't need your f***ing help." At one point Britney, whose moods swung wildly from laughter to rage to sobs, hollered, "You will do as I say." - At some point Britney put on a see-through nightgown. Before police took her outside, they wanted to cover her with a sweater, and she screamed, "Don't cover me up. I'm f***ing hot." - Britney's assistant and nanny were present during the standoff. At one point the assistant told the police that Britney had been "popping pills" all day. Her code for medication was "vitamins" and she repeatedly demanded, "Get me my vitamins!" Officers found a bottle of Prozac in her bedroom. - Sam Lutfi arrived and told officers that he and the others around Britney "knew this was coming for a long time," but didn't know how bad it would be. - The assistant also told cops that earlier in the day, Britney showed no concern about attending her deposition and would not heed her warnings to show up on time. - Sam told law enforcement that Britney had been extremely unstable and had recently purchased a house in Malibu on a whim, began moving furniture in and then changed her mind. The nanny told cops that Britney would frequently dress up to the nines for no reason. She would walk around the house and change back. my new favorite quote: "don't cover me up. im fucking hot" maybe circa 2003 girlfriend, not now.

Saw this on Perez today. Credible story or just another ploy to keep Britney in the spotlight?
<<<<She's never gonna be talking to this dude again! Unfitney's uncle, William Spears, spoke exclu$ively to The Sun about his trainwreck of a niece. And he drops some bombshells! Here are a few highlights: - He says Brit, 26, started DRINKING when she was a 13-year-old Mickey Mouse Club presenter and dabbled with DRUGS from the age of 14. - She is also terrified she will mimic her tragic grandmother Emma Jean, who committed suicide aged 31. - After her turbulent early years, Willie says she went "buck-wild" on turning 18, snorting cocaine on her birthday, adding: "She has tried just about everything - cocaine, crystal meth, ecstasy." - He says: "I'm not just a family friend or someone who claims to know them. I was there every day, working with them. I have seen all the terrible things happen." - He believes her drug-taking started at 14 with marijuana but adds: "It got worse when she got famous and she found out that people would do what she wanted them to. She wanted to drink, party and go where she wanted to go. She is a ruthless little thing, make no mistake. Nobody controls her. She bosses everyone around her." - Willie says his brother JAMIE - Britney's dad - must take a large chunk of responsibility for her boozy lifestyle. - "Just about everyone in the Spears family is a drunk and Britney's dad Jamie was one of the worst. He would drink from daylight to night. Britney saw him drunk all the time." - Willie is a recovering drug addict and has been clean for more than four years. But sensationally he admits taking drugs with Britney in the past. - He says: "I know she did cocaine on her 18th birthday - I was there. We were at a party in an apartment and I spotted her doing a line just before I did one. We smoked pot together too." - "The drug use went up overnight when she moved to LA to pursue her career. The drugs and the alcohol helped her cope with the pressure - helped her to escape from reality. We thought maybe getting married and having kids would help her settle down but it was quite the opposite." - He says: "Britney is in an unstable state of mind now and there is nothing anyone can do about it. She is not listening to anybody. She has fired all the people around her who cared because she simply doesn't want people to tell her to stop doing the things she is doing." - "If people think she has reached the bottom, they are very wrong. Suicide is the bottom line for Britney." |
