Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Debbie puts time and effort into taping, editing, etc etc. I don't even know what else she has to do to those tapes, but she can release them to whoever she pleases. Hell, she doesn't have to share them with any of us if she doesn't want to. But she DOES. And I think that in itself is amazing. Like a lot of people, I feel like I will forever be indebted to her. I agree with the seating at the shows. I am not very tall and I could not see a thing. We ended up standing on couches in the back. I think I am just so spoiled from having 2nd, 4th, etc. seats from L83, that it was weird to have to sit all the way in the back. But you know what? Whatever, I felt blessed to be able to hear some truly legendary Mayer stuff. I felt blessed to be on that ship, when there were so many friends emailing me and pming me from home who would have killed to be there. And I had the wine tasting and it was the same time as the Q&A. I went to the Q&A. That was my choice. But we had no problem giving away the ticket. I have to say, too, besides a few non Mayer fans, who were quite condescending, the crowd on the ship was so nice. And I think sixthman did a good job. Yes, there were kinks. But I had a ticket mix up and they fixed it with no questions asked. I will never forget the time I had. And meeting some of the best people. And taking pictures of stuff like this:

Yeah, it would be nice if you could actually pick from available seats when you book, kind of like when you buy tickets through MusicToday and can play around a little, throw tickets back and try for different ones, etc (and yes, I realize the irony of hoping for a more MusicToday-like experience, the way things usually go with THAT...). But I agree, closer but to the side is not better than center and a little farther back. Jennifer

I love that view I get to see all of john..I love to be able to see him move around just all the fun..when you are center you lose him from the kneecaps down because of the monitors...I think they way they did the tickets were fine..first booked as close to the front as they could get. I just want less people and someone to stop those people from crowding up the aisles..honestly we had some guy who was like 12 rows back just tell the security guy no we are standing here and he just shrugged and walked away... debbie "She carries a lot of suitcases but all of them are empty because she's expecting to completely fill them with life by the end of the trip." But the truth is, I have no complaints. I got to see John Mayer three times in one day. It was sunny and beautiful outside. Sure, the food was pretty bad and there were minor kinks here and there but whatever, it's better than being in ten inches of snow! I've never been on a cruise before and i got completely sea sick! In fact, i was in bed by 9:00 PM on the second night because I threw up the second night. It also could have been from the the excursion we went on (we went snorkling and sailing). I agree, the port was kinda lame but we went to the beach by there and laid out in the sun. We got to go sailing in the sun and saw beautiful fishies. You've just got to make the best of it! This girl that I met was saying how she had become less of a John Mayer fan after the cruise. She said something about how he was so isolated and because he was so isolated that when he went out to things like the Disco, it caused craziness among the people. I'm not quite sure how that makes you less of a fan...I mean, isn't a fan someone who just goes for the music?

I'm one of those people who loves her t-shirt collection. I grab t-shirts for concerts and particularly, when I travel somewhere. Had I known that this was how Sixthman rolled re shirts, I would have put up with the cue and also made sure I was one of the first in line. For sure, it would have taken some effort re pre-ordering shirts and I'm sure that some shirts wouldn't have even been ready, this was a first cruise and that's Sixthman's usual m.o., but we're just discussing how we felt. Dismissing it seems to be, well, insensitive. When people bitch about things that don't really matter to me, I just choose to let them express themselves. What's the harm in that? But whatever floats your boat. (smiley inserted to indicate expressing different opinions is not an invitation for a fight...) As for the main venue, I completely agree. I was in row D on the right. That was cool. But with my room of three I didn't expect to be crowded into a table with four, and maybe more, people. There were also people creeping up the sides at our show and a girl came out to check armbands bands once. You'd think they'd have people stationed at those spots to keep people out. She sent people away, but as soon as she moved on they slowly crept back. I was hoping for a concert where I didn't have to worry about someone elbowing their way into my area. Maybe next year... However, even then, I adjusted. I was next to two Japanese ladies (one who was at the Mayer show I caught in Tokyo in 2006 and she recognized me.) She had a splendid idea. Since the row in front was standing, she swung her legs over and sat up on the top of the couch. I followed suit. It was comfy. You weren't being pushed, you weren't in anyone's way and you got a pretty good view of the concert. We had to adapt. Thanks for all of the pics, by the way. Where's the welcome address in the Captain's hat? I was a bit worried after the deck show about the Sun nite show but at least he got a nap. I thought the first show was much better. I really wished he would have brought Brandi out to sing on Sun nite as she was standing sidestage. He can play anything and she can sing anything, that would have been hot. So glad she got some more exposure thru this cruise. I've never seen DRH before and I think he's way too good to be playing back up for JM. That show in the lounge ruled. The guitar player for Brett also rules, he's a member of ALO, I met his parents in Concord when Brett played the side show, they are really proud of him. I asked what ALO sounds like and his dad said, "almost symphonic." I had a great time but did want to express some sadness at two fan's behavior. At Colby's show in which JM came out, he threw a pick that was intended for a kid in a wheelchair. The girl next to me dived onto the stage extension and grabbed it. I said that it would be really nice for the kid to have it but the girl stuck it in her bra. Then when we were waiting in line for the buses for the excursions, a girl was riding on a scooter and hit a wall. A girl waiting in line went into a diatribe about how stupid it was, how that would never happen to her, how if she sees her on the boat she's going to tell her how stupid she is, etc. By the way, the scooter girl ended up going to the hospital in an ambulance. I know I was, and I'm sure that John would be ashamed of both of your actions. Both things made me really sad. Other than that, good time. Still trying to catch up on sleep.

Not that I'm complaining though because I was in row D and got some great shots. But if I had a choice, I'd be just to the right of center. I was hoping that it wouldn't be posted or shared without John's permission. I thought he was intimately honest but I also know that he's smart enough now to know that whatever he does in public (Borat photos) will end up on TV or the internet by the next day. So it's up to us to respect his wishes and not tape stuff. He asked us during the Captain's address to lose the cameras for the trip so that he could mingle. I guess we all knew that wouldn't happen. I thought the interchange at the Q&A was interesting, in regard to B&P's. When he said, "I see all" I wondered if he knew that he was being taped at that moment. I am so glad that my life is not under such a microscope, I would never survive the scrutiny. I also hope that the deck show wasn't taped, that was not his best performance.

Too late...Debbie already posted the Lido Deck show a few pages back. I don't see anything wrong with her releasing it though. Stephanie I've done the higher end cruises and I did bring way too many clothes. I think on Saturday and Sunday I changed at least three times. It was fun to change it up a few times during the day. That's part of cruising, but I don't expect that to be a priority on a music cruise. Sometimes I just changed 'cause it was time to put on the swimsuit and head to the Lido deck I was VERY disappointed that the Q&A session was double booked with the wine tasting. For me, the scheduling was the most frustrating part of the cruise. What was interesting was I was talking to a lady who claimed to have gotten quite a few of the special activities: wine tasting, song writing, workout, etc. Whether that was true or not or if she was just talking it up, I'm not sure. I also didn't like having to run from one area to another to catch the tail end of someone's show. Eventually, I just started making strategic choices and planning my routes around the ship a bit better. But I missed 80s trivia and I would have LOVED to do that. I also missed the Jokie-Okie sessions. The food: eh. They didn't have green tea!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. After my first night of partying until 7:30am I needed to be detoxified. I eventually found some at the coffee bar. Next time, I'll bring my own stash. Once I discovered that the buffet selections weren't really worth the effort, I stuck with room service for breakfast and ate way too much smoked salmon. But when I discovered there was a sushi bar next to the casino area in the afternoons, at least, I could be guaranteed a great afternoon snack.
