Fear not FrootLoop, I am one tall chickie and I will be in front of you in zone 3 (booked at 10:30 a.m. on the first day). And I'm way over worrying about
if people behind me can't see. Not to be rude, just not much I can do about it.

I just want to know how much it cost? How long does it last? Does the boat go any where?

Haha, that's hilarious. I was actually going to state a smart comment, but I refrained.

cajun...seriously....at this point in time, Debbie was not out of line at all. See how many pages long this thread is? We've been talking about it for
quite some time, so the least you can do is a little research before asking a question like that.
I"m pretty tall as well, but I chose zone 1 for show 2. I'm 5'9" and do tend to wear heels quite a bit....sorry to those behind me!

It wasn't mean it was a totally redundant question... as monica says there is a whole thread here. I don't believe in doing someone's homework...

Please read this article - Susi just posted it on Try. I am reposting it here because I think it's an important enough issue - both as relates to safety on
cruises as well as the fact that it happened on MCC.
If you have any photos from the disco the night of the alleged incident - perhaps contact Sixthman or Carnival, or your local FBI office and see if they want copies. You might help catch a criminal and perhaps bring the victim some justice - likewise you might be able to help eliminate innocent people from suspicion. I plan to follow this case pretty closely - please let me know if y'all want updates or any insight on certain aspects of the case. (And if I'm wrong in posting this - my advance apologies, but I think it's important enough for all of us to be aware of... at this point, it has nothing to do with John personally or his music.) Original story can be found here. Woman Files Suit Over Cruise Ship Rape ClaimMIAMI --A Jacksonville woman said her dream cruise ship vacation turned into a real-life nightmare after she was raped onboard.Morgan Black said she has filed a lawsuit against Carnival Cruise Lines and the Sixthman LLC, the company that organized the cruise. The attack happened in February on the Carnival cruise ship Victory, she said. Black said she and a friend booked the cruise to see John Mayer perform. Black said she was dancing at a disco on the ship and went to get a glass of water from the bar."A man asked her if he could buy her a drink," said her lawyer, famed attorney Gloria Allred. "She said, 'No,' and stated that she just wanted water."Black said the drink was not just water. She said she became lightheaded after she gulped it down, and she said the man then pushed her under a table."He then violently sexually assaulted and raped her," Allred said. Allred said the cruise line should pay for the crime because there were no surveillance cameras in public areas on the ship, and she claims there was a lack of security in other areas."If either or both of these measures had been utilized, we believe that the sexual assault that Morgan suffered would have been prevented," Allred said.Carnival Cruise Line released a statement saying, "Since we have not yet had the opportunity to review the lawsuit, it is not possible for us to comment on the specific allegations. However, we want to reinforce that the safety and well-being of our guests and crew is Carnival's No. 1 priority." Allred comforted Black during her announcement Thursday."I am not the same person I was before the cruise attack, and I will never be that person again," Black said. Black said she believes the man who attacked her was a passenger and not an employee. The FBI is investigating.

I read about that. It seems a little shady on the details. As far as I saw, the disco was always pretty crowded. I'm surprised no one saw or said anything.
There weren't any really big tables in there if I remember correctly.
Did she get the drink from the creepy guy or from the bartender? On the flip side, it's possible no one saw because it was dark and loud. Hard case to prove though if there's no real evidence. |

I have to agree...not to doubt her..but there were no big tables in there...unless she was comatose..it would have been pretty hard for anyone not to trip over
them, or see something. I presumed if he "violently" raped and assaulted her she was putting up some kind of a struggle. I know it was loud...but
there was no place in there to hide ..so to speak.
Also as soon as someone hires Gloria Aldred???? my brain stands to attention. She only takes cases that will garner a lot of publicity. If she hired her as her lawyer...then I am a little bit suspicious right from there. If It happened, then I feel very sorry for her...but if the story is correct and she asked for a water...seems to me I always got bottled. no one ever handed me an open drink of water at a bar. debbie

docoboc wrote: Yeah, I'm not debating the accuracy of the story/case. I was just bringing it to everyone's attention since safety is a real concern on cruise ships, things like this can and do happen, and someone out there might have something on their SD card that could help the case either way. If you want my opinion on the matter - it's very likely the case will either be dismissed on a legal technicality (jurisdiction, most likely, or possibly a clause in the terms of the cruise agreement stating indemnity or a "hold harmless" clause - maybe a mandatory arbitration clause), or Carnival will offer to settle with her, and will ask Sixthman and/or possibly whatever Mayer LLC was used for indemnity or contribution. That all depends upon the contracts between the parties that put MCC together, and that's a WHOLE other ball of legal wax.As for Gloria Allred... she's a feminist attorney with a talent for high profile cases involving sexual harassment and discrimination. I don't know that I would necessarily volunteer to be her poster child if it were my case... but that's the choice of the plaintiff. In my humble opinion, anytime a woman is hurt (any time ANYONE is hurt) or wronged - it's cause for concern and justice should be sought. Just my $0.02...YMMV.

I am dissapointed.. I thought you'd get to go to more than 1 John show on the cruise... turns out there are only 2 scheduled shows. Boo.
Then it's quite expensive going "just" for that. Do you guys think John will do a winter tour too? |

In regards to the rape... There was a dude, kinda creepy at the disco all the nights. He is a bigger, I wanna say Mexican guy who's name is John. He took
kind of creepy pictures of women and gave them shots of Petron from bottles he brought on the ship. I am not saying it was him, his wife was sitting next to
him the whole time. But if someone knows who he is, you might want to ask him if he has photos.

If this really did happen to this woman on the cruise, my heart goes out to her. Again, if true, good for her on reporting it since so many women are raped and
it's never reported allowing the perpetrator to do it again to another unsuspecting woman. However, I would find another attorney and quick. One with a lot
more legal creditability and a lot less media exposure. Gloria Allred is the same woman representing the nanny in the Rob Lowe scandal and the same woman who
represented Britney Spear's body guard in his testimony against Britney regarding her child custody battle. She also represented Amber Fry during the Scott
Petterson trial. If John Mayer's name was not attached to this cruise Ms. Allred would not have bothered. She loves a high profile case and any chance to
get her face on t.v. Don't be surprised if you see her on Nancy Grace or some news network talking about this case.

you said - she's doing it for the media exposure and to draw attention to the issue. I certainly hope John's management is aware of the situation. I
doubt you'll hear anything unless absolutely necessary from his camp.

They have no need to comment...as far as I have read..she is not suing them just carnival and sixthman.
Becky's right.... truer words were never spoken... media coverage...that woman is right there. If John Mayer's name was not attached to this cruise Ms. Alldred would not have bothered.
