that is why I am saying its a painting... it has some flaws...but i think it's an artists version of him. Someone thinks they are Edward Hopper.

You know I am going to take an artists viewpoint here ...as I am one and have been for years and years and years....a painting does not have to look like a
photograph. That is not the point. It's a great painting. It has a wonderful feel and it certainly gives you the feel of him.
I would look at that painting and see mayer much younger, but definitely mayer. Saying it doesn't look exactly like him is not the point....if it looked exactly like him then it might as well be a photograph. There are some wonderful photographers...an I would be first in line to say it takes a lot of artistic integrity to do a really great photograph. But a painting that is a whole other set of artistic tools. debbie

I don't think that's John. I don't think it's a painting either. I think it's a photograph of someone, just not John. This photo is my
reference point.
Sorry, but to be honest I don't think the head is big enough in the other picture and there are no curls in the hair. |

you know if it's a painting, it's a feeling... if it is a painting, which I think it is... it doesn't have to be dead on...
I hate to tell you but Whistlers mother didn't really look like her...however..everyone knew it was her by the feeling. painting, art is subjective. It doesn't have to be anatomically correct. It doesn't have to be exact..it just has to convey a feeling. but to each it's own. carry on.... I love the light, I love the feeling I get from it. I think it's a representation of John. Is is dead on? Are all the hairs in the right place, are there enought curls or chicken pox scars..is his chin line quite right...maybe not ..but if it was the person could have just snapped a photo... what fun would that be? debbie

i'm guessing he didn't have braces. if you've ever seen his bottom teeth, there's a little space between the center two. you'd think they
would've fixed that with braces.

I'm going to vote not Mayer - he's got big bushy caterpillar eye brows that don't even come down to the side of his eyes...that guy has long curvy
eyebrows...the paprazzi photo from a few weeks ago when he got the ticket is a good reference.
And I think it's just a warmed up photo...nice though...would make a good look-alike. ...steph... |

I will take your expertise, You seem to know what you are talking about. I know nothing about programs... photograph altering through the comp. My degrees are all in fine art and the computer was never used. We all had to actually draw...with a pencil, paintbrushes, real live nude models...art was a lot more fun then. My son showed me when he was in college, computer rendered drawing..with a tablet..hated it. I like the tactile quality of things I can feel. I know anything's possible, the kid became a digital compositor for the movies, working on Benjamin Buttons now. I have seen the stuff they do on the screen. Liked movies better when I actually thought they were real too. Oh well on marches progress... Sad, give me a Pre Raphaelite or even a half way decent Jules Fieffer, a sketch by Lennon. Somehow altering Photo's to look like painting just seems like picking up a piece of tracing paper and stealing someone elses work. debbie

RJ = Road Journal. The precursor to the blogs. Scotty Crowe used to write a journal entry recapping each show. And with each entry he posted pics. There
were some GREAT ones too.
Bryan should have the Today Show performance on his site -- www.score1more4me.com EDIT: Speaking of RJ pics...this one is my favorite. Personally, I think he should have gone with the "Big Montana" tat, but what do I know
