Target package was sold out at my local store. Grrr.
Clarity for no one...you're a little bit of a weirdo. Also, this DVD is way better than AGT. As good as that one is, the music and playing on this DVD is much better.

Yes, yes, Jon. I'm already aware.
So these pictures are exclusive to the Target package?
My scanner's out of commission so I had to snap pictures ala Ryan.

It was good, but I don't think it lived up to the hype.

don't attend and don't usually check videos out. i bought the dvd today at the virgin megastore in union square and it's currently playing in the
background 'cause i had a long day. i'm glad i got it and that i'll have it to pop in every once in awhile.
for the most part, i liked the way it was shot. i don't like the shots that make the viewer feel like they're 5'2" and struggling to see over the head of the tall guy in front of them. i'm relatively tall and i still have that issue. i appreciate the concert atmosphere that those shots helped create, but i wouldn't be upset if they were missing. the live performance itself was absolutely amazing and i remember the feeling of JM3 being palpable in the air. they and the other sets sound awesome on
the dvd; you can feel that there is an energy, but it refuses to be completely captured on film or tape.

p.s. i forgot how much i loved in your atmosphere and free fallin'
live, so i'm very glad to have those preserved, and it's cool to watch the progression again. also, i love the end with the heart of life. my dad's going to be excited once he watches it because it's his favorite song and -- piggybacking on
steve's beatles comment -- he finds it very george harrisonesque.

Thanks for the clarification on the AGC.
I think his appearance on Austin City Limits was much better than this release. Pretty disappointing John needs some new material. I wish I had a dozen Gibson L-5 guitars. There will be a mad dash to eBay looking for that tone. |

Shit. I'm watching Stop This Train and tearing like a little bitch. Don't make fun.
But anyways, the Target package was cheaper than I expected. Screw the blu-ray; no it doesn't come with a cd and it's the same price. Somehow I think Target really likes JM; it's the only store I see doing specials on him when a release comes out.

It's amazing. I love it...I'm just finishing the Wait Til Tomorrow commentary...with them in the studio laughing. COOL.
I am loving it all and I was there that night. I always feel as if you miss stuff seeing it live, so being able to re-live it all like this is absolutely AWESOME. I agree with Joc about the Trio feeling. There's nothing like it... And I have to agree with Sam on the nit-picking. Blah blah blah___I think this is a stellar release and I'm LOVIN me some Mayer!!!

I was able to get both the Blu-ray for 14.99 and the CD for 9.99 at Best Buy. That was cheaper than I expected. Blu-rays are not cheap.
The blu-ray is really worth it, the video quality is amazing and Chad did an awesome job on the music. A side note. The tape that was posted here from that show was a great version to hold us over until this came out. If I am right it was debbie that taped it? correctly me if i am wrong. I have listened to it a lot in the past six months. It will be laid to rest after serving admirably. These days I can see John wanting to put out a impressive package. AGT was very early in his career and was very much a rough cut/first draft type of live album. There was a big investment in this one, it is a concert film. There is a beginning, middle, and end. A chronology to who he is as an artist. We as superfans are really not the best judges of how good it is. For as much as many of you say that you can be objective, you can't. I freely admit I can't be 100 percent objective. We all started playing our imagination's version of this DVD the minute it was announced, and we have six months of imagination time to work against. I did get a chance to pick up another Blu-ray while I was there. Batman: The Movie (1966). This day has covered my two personality traits, Music and my inner Nerd. |

I watched the target version with my husband tonight and I enjoyed it. I do have to say that although he wasn't as "lacking in vocals"
"lacking in playing to the crowd", I still love AGT because there was something just so humble and fresh about that. He still appeared to be John
from CT, the home boy, the nobody special that couldn't believe his good fortune. I, of course though, realize that can't stay that way and he was
destined to move on/up. He's done so. Some of it seems for the best and some for the worst.
I still enjoyed the DVD. He can't please everyone. That's for sure. By the way, I think the stroking the puppy, whoever had that idea was lame and then some. Was it supposed to endear people to him? It irritated me because I know the dog isn't his or if it is, he dumped Duke on Mommy!!! Overall, a solid DVD and I was pleased. My dogs seemed to be as well. Both labs at my feet and nodding in approval |
