After hearing In Your Atmosphere on Where the Light Is, I've been eager to hear top quality versions of John's rarer songs. I had a live version of In
Your Atmosphere beforehand, but the quality was so low I didn't fully appreciate the song until I heard it on Where the Light Is. I see the As/Is
collections on iTunes have Quiet, Tracing, and Hummingbird, are those my best bet? Or maybe if there's good quality taper versions/collections floating
around on torrents? If not, I think it would be cool if the forum could put together a collection of rare songs, all taper/non-copyright stuff of course. Any
help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ill be nice here before someone kills ya, do some research....go to j-mayer.org and check out past show and see what he has done and see what it is that you
might want and ask for it (if it was taped) in our download thread....if you ask like this people will rip you and you will likely not get what you
want...believe me ive been there, lol. hope this helps

Download thread....and may I add? Please be you're own judge, please do your own homework. The rest of us have. Most things in the download thread are
mp3 easy to download. Start finding the rare songs you want, like hunter said, go find set lists... find the track you want and then download them. If you
can't find them ask on the download thread and please USE A DATE!
Here's the fun part. Listen to them. You may have to listen to 7 or 8 suckers to find that one that just floats your boat, but if you are a fan of John which I am sure your are..hence the reason you are here. This shouldn't be a waste of time. Then find your own versions. Find your own best of the best rare copies. No one has your sensibilities, no one has your taste but you. Be a pioneer, don't follow the crowd. If I tell you Aug 5 2001 was the best Lifelines you will ever hear...you going to believe me? (by the way I just made that date up, don't ask for it) here is my list...it's complete almost all the way through the trio. if you click on the dates the setlists will come up. I guess I should have mentioned, I do have some of what I'm looking for, just not great quality. I just wasn't sure if there was a group of unreleased
songs someone put together in a collection, something like someone did with the Trio Blues Collection a while back. I used to browse a while back and used the
downloads thread previously. Thanks everybody for the tips and links.

no...those are all the taped shows that I have in my external...like I said it's good through almost the wholw trio...just haven't updated the list with what I have till now. and no, there is no best like there was of the blues...so many of the old recordings are not stellar..but very listenable. sometimes the songs and the intros and outros just transend the sound quality.

Good point Debbie, I do enjoy the intros. I guess I have just been a little spoiled by In Your Atmosphere on Where the Light Is.
And thanks for that link Kristy... I remember a while back someone had put many of those songs on the same profile on sendspace (maybe it was you?) so it's nice to see them all together like that again. And thanks to whoever put them on sendspace a while back. |
