In the pits this year. It's been over a year since I have seen John in concert. I'm going to both the Dallas and the Houston show but got pit seats for
Houston. I was really sad I didn't get better seats in Dallas

Right section, Row G for myself. Hoping to hit up the lawn in dallas the night before but its always contingent on other plans.
If what you're doing isn't producing results it is merely an excuse.

I'll be there in the lawn. My first of 7 JM shows in the lawn as well as my first concert at Cynthia Woods - anyone have any comments on the venue?
As I'm going to be out in Mars for the show, if anyone has 2 extra seats, please let me know. (heatherlafon@yahoo.com )Regardless, looking forward to the show! |

Wish I could be there. My best friend's getting married that weekend so I have to pass on Houston and Dallas. Enjoy!

For dallas I have section 101 row G ... which is better than I have gotten before. Last time I was in Houston I think I had the last row in the covered
section.
heather, the woodlands pavillion is a good venue. The whole area is pretty nice around there. Houston is HOT HOT HOT, HUMID, HUMID and more HUMID!!!!!! Deb - Are you and Lez going together? I have been so out of the loop!!!! I hope to see y'all out there :) |

Heather, Luckily the "houston show" is actually almost an hour outside the city, so it is not as crowded. I live right by the venue and I have seen
john there 4 times. There is a nice mall and outdoor shopping/eating area right across from the Pavillion. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for all the info, everyone. I live in Sugar Land, but just have never ventured to a concert out in the Woodlands. I usually see smaller acts at the
smaller venues (Warehouse, Verizon, Meridian, etc.) for "smaller " artists. Most of my JM concerts were seen in the midwest where I went to college.
I am sure there are many different perspectives, but aside the great drunk party people watching, from a concert (visual and sound) standpoint, how is the lawn at Cynthia Woods? |

its actually not as bad as you may think. That venue is very "fan-friendly" is terms of proximity to the stage. A lot better than Smirnoff in Dallas
too. You'll have a good time.

I am contemplating buying a lawn ticket in Dallas so I can see him two nights running. Why do you say that Dallas is not as fan friendly??

Be forewarned, too, that you will probably have to check your camera at the door. I've been to numerous concerts there and only once have I been allowed to
bring in my camera.

I suggest you look at John's recording policy, but assuming you probably won't, I went and got it for you. Here you are.
"John Mayer allows audio recording at most concerts. We ask that all tapers respect venue policies as well as fellow concert-goers' personal space and view of the show. Photography is allowed, but no professional still cameras or video cameras are permitted without appropriate media credentials. JM supports the free distribution of live recordings from the 2008 Summer Tour. " Respectfully, JJ

I've read John's recording policy many times, and quoted it to the pavilion personnel. Even printed it out to show them at the gate. They don't
care. They still make you check your camera at the door. It's not just for Mayer concerts, either. I've been there for other bands, too. Same thing.
But then again, the last time I saw Mayer there, they let everyone with cameras bring them in. Maybe they're getting tired of their "Camera Nazi"
reputation, whatever, I just think people should be forewarned that they may have to check their cameras at the door. If they know it may be coming, they can
plan ahead accordingly. CWM Pavilion actually has a really good and efficient method for checking items, and I've never had a problem getting my stuff back
after a show. Something else people may need to know: Do not park at the mall or shopping areas to go to the show. And be prepared to walk There isn't one
huge parking lot for this venue, instead it's lots of little parking lots spread out. Makes for beautiful scenery, but be sure to leave yourself plenty of
drive time/walk time to get to the venue.

JJ - In my opinion, Smirnoff in Dallas is just sooo spread out. The lawn to stage distance is much shorter in The Woodlands compared to Dallas.
Hope that makes sense ha. |
