Great job--and Susi, if you're reading, thanks for posting the interview on TRY JM. That's where I saw it first.

Richard, no one does a better job interviewing John Mayer | ||

than you do. Lots of gems in this one--"how cool would it be to play onstage with your own brother?" "celebrities are their own worst
stalkers", that whole thing about being 30. . .and isn't this interesting. . .he doesn't necessarily want or need to be the front man in a band.
Great job--and Susi, if you're reading, thanks for posting the interview on TRY JM. That's where I saw it first. |

Nice job RY. I'm always impressed with your interview questions. I wish more music writers were as thoughtful and thought provoking as you.

As always another great interview. Thanks to both RY and John. I often go back and read these. They are always well thought out questions and the most down to
earth, from the gut answers. You can definitely sense the feeling that John is at ease when Richard interviews him moreso than any other interview. He knows
he's not having to sit on the edge of his seat wondering, waiting, dreading the next off the wall, uncomfortable question and how he will answer. Good to
hear him talk about the next record. Always anxious for that, but know that JM will put it out when it's ready and it'll be worth the wait.
Nice to wake up to this today. Thanks guys! Stephanie |

Thanks again Richard for continuing to do these with John. It's one of the things I look forward to in the summers.
Another day alive is another day you got through. Especially when you're 30! That's thirty years of planes landing successfully; thirty years of the car turning into the driveway and the ignition being turned off. Add to that almost ten years of putting out records and people caring. Add all that up and I'm going to go on stage and now I know how to play like it's the last night of my life. Still self-aware as ever, thank God.

Wow, another great interview...thanks, RY! In this current media climate, it's so refreshing to read an interview with thought-provoking questions, honest
answers, and no intrusive BS. And thanks to JM for taking the time to share with us here at MSM. The mutual respect in this interview is evident. Great stuff!!

Richard, thank you. As always, you are the consummate interviewer, getting the goods from John while keeping it appropriate, yet interesting. You are as much
the rock star as your interviewee.
Also, don't you think it's a good idea to sticky this. . .at least for a week or so? I almost didn't notice this. siggy designed by halogirl as a gift of friendship "The presence of yahoos in daily life is not a new torment. They have always been among us. Always an enjoyable read, and a great deal of that is owed to the good questions. Nicely done.

Thanks for another great read, Richard. Though I've never met John, your interviews with him always make me feel like I'm hearing from the "real
John". He always sounds so comfortable. I'm glad you have that relationship with him.
And kudos to Joc, too. I'm sure her editing skills were helpful. |

As everyone has already said : Thank You RY!
I always get excited when I see a new one of this posted. I feel like the interviews that RY gets are the most honest, sincere, and heartfelt interviews we ever get to read. You know that what he said hasn't been taken all out of context, chopped up and made "interesting" to sell mags. JM knows these interviews are for us that care, and it's nice to see that he takes the time to do this with RY. "It's just the way you move, the way you move me..." |

Oh gosh, more than anything this is a reason to keep reading MSM. Richard, you consistently get to the heart of what we'd ask if we were sitting there with
him, while never compromising his or your integrity. Thanks for that.

Always enjoyable, RY. Thanks for making the effort year after year.
I know he meant this about himself personally but this is freaking excellent advice. I plan on taking it. |

Thanks again, RY. I think the interview shows an interesting juxtaposition for Mr. Mayer. He sort of fighting out all the crap parts of being a celebrity
and trying to relish all the good ones. I hope he is successful. However, from this, I might suggest he stop reading
all the celeb gossip about himself and start just living his life. It will be nice once he realizes how he fits into
all of it!

thanks so much Richard!
its funny cause i just got done watching Where The Light Is on blu-ray...but that live concert and this interview (or really any interview you've done with John) really makes me appreciate John as a person and musician that much more ..each year since i first heard of John (back in 2002) my level of appreciation and admiration of him and his music just keeps getting higher
Music had been her refuge and her solace, and she had a healthy appreciation for its power to transport a person to a better place.
