i thought that moment was awesome, bit to be fair, i also think this wouldn't have happened at any other oscars. jon was clearly trying to fill time
throughout the show (probably due to a dearth of jokes given 11 days since the strike to write the damn thing), but it was a case of perfect place, perfect
time. it was a beautiful moment, one of many during the show.
...or at least that's what my other personalities tell me.

I think it was less a time-filler and more because he knew it was the right thing to do and it would play very well for the crowd. Luckily, the show
wasn't already overly long, and , yes, likely due to a dearth of patter. Cates would have had to approve it and I'm sure he was motivated by it
playing so well.

either way, we'll never know, but it was beautiful no matter the rationale for its occurrence.
eta: mama, cool little update from ew.com Q: The orchestra cut off Markéta Irglová before she uttered a single word of her acceptance speech. Was it Jon Stewart's idea to bring her back on stage after the commercial break?

Very cool of Cates! Now I want to know why everyone was slipping on the way to the side podium.

Q: Presenters Miley Cyrus, Colin Farrell, and John Travolta all slipped while walking to the podium. Was there a banana peel up there, or what?

Aw, thanks, Chandler. I took a quick look on that site, but missed the Burning Q&A section.

don't mess with the local IATSE folks (international union of theatrical employees) - we can and will mess with you actor types anyway we can think of! to
be honest, that spray is essential in moving any scenery on casters on a slippery floor - but the stage or production manager should have noticed there was
some on the floor before the broadcast began.

Yeah, this movie was awesome for sure. I do think the ending though is what really solidified this movie being great. There's something really great to be
said for endings that leave you thinking or wondering what could've/would've/should've happened.

Aw. I was just gift wrapping this soundtrack for Dr. Science's birthday. I agree RY. My romance with this movie continues on several levels: it's
art imitating life value (since the protagonists did briefly fall in love in real life after the movie, and such tenderness remains) the power of the music in
it's simplicity, the fact it was made for $100K and is such a great film, and the ambiguity of the ending.
