I agree the sitting was weird.... I stood for a while as the lone ranger on my row. Wheel was great as well as mercy. I was suprised that none of the encore
choices were played. I heard that half the m&g people didn't show. Those people should be ashamed too.
That kid dancing in Jesters signature is now haunting me in my dreams....

Friends hated their first Mayer show! | ||
|
Hmm interesting about the crowd. I just "talked" (texted) with one of my friends that went and her initial words were "not a good show". I
actually thought she was joking. But she said "he is just different, and not in a good way".
They were on the lawn, so no they weren't among the (rude) people who sat down. I guess I'd like to see the set list...I'm guessing there weren't a lot of old songs ? I'm not sure what people expected, but I feel like some people are still in the Room For Squares era or something. And if you come in expecting that maybe it's a bit disappointing that you didn't hear things you were familiar with. That said, I would think people could appreciate the musicianship and still get into it. I feel bad they didn't come away impressed AT ALL! I'll need to talk to them and find out what their deal was.

I just got home and I'm cleaning up the show. My recorder overheated and shut itself off during the end of gravity, so I lost waiting on the world to
change and say. Show shouls be up within the hour.

wow sounds like an odd night.....i dont understand sitting during a concert, it baffles me so much that people would chose to sit during a show......and sorry
about the encore but by the way the crowd is being described he just wanted to get out of there......hopefully the last show will be great.....and waiting and
say couldnt be a worse encore in my opinion.

I've been to (what I consider) a lot of Mayer shows and I'd put this one close to the top of my list.
I've never heard him and the band so "ON" and seriously the music was just incredible and I could hear everything and everyone very clearly. DRH sounded so amazing backing up John, it was just awesome. John was dancing all crazy and acting funny, it was cool. When I realized it was "Wheel" he was going to play for 12 minutes, I was in heaven. "Trust Myself" just sounded sexy. Hearing "Say" live was better than I thought it would be. "Free Fallin'" was a nice treat. "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" acoustic was almost too good to be true. I am thrilled that I went to this show. I don't follow John too much anymore, but I'm happy that I'm at least able to pop in and see a show every year. It is always a highlight. Some QUOTES: "if you can't be more, what the fuck are you here for" "I'm a crazy lover, undercover, wasting time" "you sound wonderful, record deals for everyone" "so, who is high? WHO HERE IS HIGHHHHHH"

Sitting | ||

I was a bit disappointed with this year's show in comparison to last year. It could have been the crowd, but I was way more into it last year. As for the
sitting down during the show, yes, I did it, and felt totally lame. The only reason why I sat down was my cousin was with me, and she is a higher risk
pregnancy so she had to sit every few songs. We had this complete jerk in front of us that was badgering us about it, but there's a special place in hell
for that guy.
Encore- totally sucked, wanted Great Indoors. Good luck West Palm! |

It must have been contagious, bc although it didn't rain here, Blake got his ass kicked by his BFF Fish......total bummer! OK..tomorrow marks #20 for me and I have to say tonight was one of my top 5 Mayer shows. TREMENDOUS energy and emotion from the man this evening. It was
almost like the setlist told a story tonight and I've never felt that about any of his shows before.
Some interesting things... The Mercy solo was SICK however we were all freaking out about the ginormous bug crawling up his neck. Sorry Mayer if you thought the squeals were for you. It was actually about a dozen women freaking out about the bug. DRH, the exterminator that he is, swatted it off of him before it made the ascent to his head. (ps...blurry pic of Mayer and "friend" below). Some women brought this MC priceless sign (professionally done up at Kinkos) and he proceeded to read it to the audience. The last bullet was something like "after show with Mayer -- priceless", to which he described his unglamourous aftershow rituals AND then a New Kids dance which still had me cracking up well into the next song. I think in Free Falling he replaced "America too" with "Vibrator too"...did anyone else here that or was it just my dirty mind? I peed internally when he sang Fortress by Sting...one of my faves!!! There were so many teases and mini covers it was hard to keep track of them all. He seemed in a silly mood, but intensly focused on each song, giving it his all. And I wasn't entirely buying that there was "sweetened green tea" in his solo cup. We all know what solo cups house and it sure ain't tea. God...there's so much more but my brain needs sleep before I can go into it. Tonight was 120% for me, let's hope he brings the same rawness to tomorrow's show. Thanks to Geibers for making my night with the kick ass seat! Next time we're gonna catch that pick dude. It's my mission!! Oh and sorry Caite, I think I started the sit down thing for Wheel. The baby was kicking me like crazy (she either loves or hates the song cause she was relatively still the rest of the night) and my back was hurting like a mother. HOWEVER, Mayer must have noticed that I stopped rocking and promptly threw a pic that hit me in the neck. ![]() ![]() We never did find that damn thing anyway.
Pics (of course!)

OK...here's a few more. Sorry about the largeness and/or crappiness of the photos. I'm using my roadtrip partner's laptop and I totally miss the
creature comforts of Photoshop and calibration.
I switched between manual and sports settings tonight, still trying to play with my camera and figure out the best mode. I *think* I have it down pat and should hopefully rock it tomorrow night with some more photos.

ok...i pressed a few other buttons on debbie's camera and managed to take around 600 pictures, but about 10 of them AREN'T good...sooo...had a hard
time choosing the good ones.
for the guitar nerds:
a woman in the front row held up this huge sign detailing how much it cost her to go to her shows this summer (HA! anybody want to see MY AmEx bill???) and made it like a fake mastercard commercial. john saw the sign and brought it up onstage. listen to the tape for the full details...very funny.
