Thanks for the tapes! Too bad about the weird audience, but at least that should make for some nice recordings!

yeah, just got back to tallahasse from tampa (sweet 4 hour after the show drive home) -- definitely an odd show tonight. by the by, i'm enraged about great
indoors. all that effort (not really) for nothing. WEAK.
P.S. fnovoa, you were definitely right at the end of my row (i could tell by your excessive UM gear). i was the guy in the navy blue shirt with the blonde girl that walked into the row in the middle of belief. i was gonna say whats up after the show but you were conversing with someone else. P.P.S. i'm sorry if this is someone on here, but there was a blatantly hammered drunk woman about 4 seats in from the right side of row 6 in ORCH 2. she was going nuts the entire time (from the time onerepublic started til the end of Mayer) and was like making super obnoxious comments to everyone around her about all this stuff. it was hilarious to watch, but i'm sorry for those who were around her.
When I was a kid, when I was a little boy, I always wanted to be a dinosaur. I wanted to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex more than anything in the world! I made my arms short, and I roamed the backyard, and I chased the neighborhood cats, and I growled and I roared and everybody knew me and was afraid of me. But then one day my dad said "Bobby, you're 17. It's time to throw childish things aside." And I said, "Okay, Pop." But he really didn't say that, he said "Quit being a fucking dinosaur and get a job." |

encore | ||

I dont get it!
They asked us to vote on a song that we wanted to hear for the encore - right? Several time during the tour he has NOT played them. I know that it's a time issue BUT cut one of the BS songs (Say, Bigger than my Body,Gravity) and do what They wanted us to vote on. Kelly

i have to agree with everyone about how weird the crowd was. i was in section 6 row d and everytime that it looked like john was going to play a slow song or
jam out EVERYONE around me would sit down. i was the only person who stood through the entire show. it also really bothered how many people were there who a.
didn't like john mayer and were going because of wives/ girlfriends (and said it every 5 minutes) and b. how incredibly drunk people are willing to get at
such a big show. the only nice part is that for most of the show i had a clear view of john.
i thought the show itself was amazing. |

As for the show, this was my first mayer concert after being a fan since the RFS era, and i have to say my experience was great. The band was so on for me
and the whole mayer experience is better in person. And although it was weird with the sitting and such with the fans, i found waiting in line to get into the
gates in the pouring rain definitely worth it. |

OK..tomorrow marks #20 for me and I have to say tonight was one of my top 5 Mayer shows. TREMENDOUS energy and emotion from the man this evening. It was almost
like the setlist told a story tonight and I've never felt that about any of his shows before.
I'm so happy you said this and I don't know if it's true, but I TOTALLY thought this too about the setlist being a story.

I thought on free fallin' he sang, "Crazy about Elvis, loves horses and her BLACKBERRY too." I could have sworn that's what it sounded like
and he had that smirk in his face when he sang it. But I can't tell on debbie's tape.
And yes. we have to find a pick next time. Two close calls and nothing to show for it. ugh. just tell me next time if you see one flying towards your neck. Slow Dancing Acoustic video is still uploading...

KD87 wrote: Gravity is a MUST for any JM set, IMO. In fact, if any of the three you mentioned were cut, I'd miss them. John seems to be rather spontaneous and maybe he just didn't feel the encore choice. Sounds like a great show in spite the audience weirdness. I'm jealous of those going tonight...have fun!!! |

fender83 wrote: Ummm... you most certainly weren't the only person standing in Orch 3. I stood up the second he hit the stage and didn't sit down until they turned on the house lights. And the people behind me stood for most of the concert. I don't remember them sitting down but I wasn't paying much attention to them. And I don't understand why someone in the Orch sections would get wasted before the concert. There were four ladies in Orch 2 that were so drunk people started complaining to the security guards. And the girl to the side of my started holding up a sign at the end of the concert and I couldn't see. But....I thought the concert was spectacular. As others have said.. there was so much energy from both John and the band. I was sad he didn't play Indoors but still thought the concert couldn't have been much better. I can't wait for the next album! Thanks to those who recorded the show.. they're great! |
