Black Swan Green by David Mitchell (loved it) and Sarah Vowell's new one The Wordy Shipmates. I love love love Sarah Vowell, but this one is chocked full of historical data, so I found myself sort of drifting off and having to re-listen to huge chunks. it's about the Puritan movement in America and the founding of New England - basically, a history of 16th century Christianity. really interesting, but I kept getting confused with all the names and factions of the church separatists. anyway, I still recommend it even though it's not my favorite of her books.
Black Swan Green was just a good easy read - told from the perspective of a 13 year old boy in England in the 80s. you may have already read it since it seems to be on a lot of English class lists.
