Happy New Year All. I watched The Song Remains The Same DVD as tonights night-cap. Maybe the best performance ever? Jimmy Page is soooo cool and I don't
think anyone can match his expression. Zeppelin is probably the greatest rock band ever, all four parts are intresting to listen to. Watch Since I've Been
Loving You and try to disagree.

Love Led Zeppelin, hate that film. I've got the Zeppelin two-DVD set and SRtS isn't even close to what they could do when they were on top of their
game. Also, the blatantly ridiculous editing is annoying.

My fave Zep footage is from the 2 dvd set, I love the Albert Hall gig, Bonham is on fire!

I take TSRTS for what it is. Everybody knows is was ill-conceived and ill-carried out, but there are some glimpses here and there. The Rain Song and SIBLY
are highlights for me. 20 Minutes of Dazed and Confused is not. 4 or 5 songs on the 2 DVD set are from those same shows and they're great performances,
so maybe it was just the context of the film that does a disservice. (And nobody has yet, but I hate when people bag on Jimmy for sloppiness. There may be an
occasional stray note, but he's not nearly as sloppy as some believe).

If you go and listen to How the West Was Won, that whole band was on top of their game. Jimmy Page was the best guitarist from '69 through '73. I do agree that the TSRTS had some really shitty editing, but it still is great and that was such a great show at the Madison Sqaure Garden. During those two performances, Jimmy was so strung out on cocaine that he hadn't slept in 5 straight days. Pretty crazy stuff. Everyone should go buy the 2 disc DVD of Zep. The first disc is worth the money by itself lol. |

Yea, I got both DVDs. The 79 footage at Knebworth is pretty brutal, and theres some awesome footage on the Zeppelin DVD. But MSG in 73 seems like its the
coolest place to be. Jimmy Page is the definition of a rock star. Hes sloppy yea, but hes such a show-off that its part of his style and there aren't too
many players like him.

Nobody looks better with a Les Paul than Jimmy Page. Period.

My fave Zep footage is from the 2 dvd set, I love the Albert Hall gig, Bonham is on fire!I agree, Live at the Royal Albert hall 1970 is the best concert I have ever seen. If I remember correctly, it might be what made me want o play guitar. The performance is unbelievable considering they only started in very late '68. On the Song Remains the Same, the Since I've Been Loving You is killer though |

And Page may have been sloppy (remember he was usually wrecked on stage from what I understand from their road manager's book), but I don't think there
is a band that had as much consistency and incredible song writing. I think they had under 100 songs recorded and how many of them are classics? like 80?

Their song writing is great (for the songs they actually wrote), That's The Way is one of the beautiful songs ever, but I really love their performances.
All four of them are really amazing to watch and theres soo much excitement and emotion in all aspects their music. The B&W Denmark footage is great, but
Bring It Home from Albert Hall is my fav. Zeppelin performance.

Zep is my favorite rock and roll band ever, much love.A+ They'll always be my favorite. Anyone here read "Stairway To Heaven: Led Zeppelin Uncensored Richard Cole who was the tour manager for Led Zeppelin from their first US tour in 1968." It's a crazy insight into the band. |

Alex98 wrote: Richard Cole and Peter Grant were some FUCKED up people. Especially Grant, he was a genius but damn he was cruel. And regarding the Denmark performance on the bonus features: Jimmy Page was kickass with his badass painted Tele. That was the reason I really started playing guitar. |

i love the led...but i also read that they stole alot of there ideas from old blues songs. There is a website that show lyrics that they took.

Pretty much their whole first album was a rip off of old blues tunes, but who cares! They got sued and they paid for it. |

"Ripping off" was different back then.
Jake Holmes said something about them taking "Dazed and Confused" from him: "good for them, they can have it" Plus, a lot of credit was given to original writers, Willie Dixon, etc A lot of early artists "ripped off" blues stuff. Bruce Springsteen said he learned his first Chuck Berry riff from Keith Richards. |

So many blues songs are covers anyway. I agree they should have gave credit but who cares really... it's not like they actively claimed it was theirs. If I
say something like "I don't need no doctor, cause this prescription can't be filled" in one of my songs, I figure whoever knows it will be
like sweet, he's a Charles/Schof fan. You have to remember that this was back then when those songs were all fairly popular. The one they got sued for,
Bring it on Home, the first minute of that song is clearly a tribute/cover.
