Brett, I checked out the mini HP netbook at Best Buy...damn those things are small. Not sure if I like the keyboard, seems a bit too slim for me. But the idea
is definitely intriguing, having a 2 pound laptop for travel.

brett just click the start button and type in command in the box, it pops right up. Also- I had no problem installing firefox, if it gives you trouble on
install right click the exe and run in compatibility for vista.
come on man, you cant expect new versions to operate the exact same way, that's why theyre new! haha you know that. dont bother messing with it if you dont want to run into learning the new parts, i mean isnt that the point? randy- i think i'm the only person not on the ultra portable/netbook bandwagon. i'd take a small laptop(think 13") any day over a smaller 9-10" netbook. i get teh appeal and the price point is great. i realize a lot of people can go without much storage and speed, but i'd rather comprise a little size and weight for more features. i've used the dell mini and asus one and maybe its cause my hand are gigantic but i dont enjoy using them. i am excited about the future of solid state drives and impressed with how quickly the prices have come down. |

Joey, I'm all for improving vista, but making changes just to change it so you can sell it as new, that doesn't do it for me. Changing add/remove
programs to personalization didn't improve a thing except confuse people.
Playing around for just a few hours now, W7 does feel faster, but as far as any functional improvements, i haven't found them yet. I'm not talking about aero or glass, that doesn't make anything better or worse. And all these damn libraries... if I don't want them, I shouldn't be forced to have them. and I'm all for new technology. You haven't heard me complain once about my G1 phone. |

yeah i'd say it's noticeably faster, especially the load times(not that i'm super concerned with start-up time), I guess I just like the new look
and layout too, maybe i'm weird i dunno.
I haven't heard you complain about the G1 phone because it's effing awesome. My roommate has one and i love it, but i didn't wanna switch to tmobile. He's an RF engineer for TM so we are most definitely the biggest geeks in our neighborhood. |

haha, it's a patch/update that's going to fix a lot of issues that were not identified until it got used in the public's hands

ahhh, gotcha. hell there's a chance i might be selling their phones soon if i can't find a job. i really don't enjoy retail but i'm going to
get desperate real quick.

I just got a g1 this week and i think I am starting to really like it. I was just upset that my tmail account did not transfer over. Change sometimes sucks but
can be for the better!

haha, no kidding right? That case is huge. First time i saw a pic of it online I thought someone had put a micro-atx board in it. I loved the look so I was on
a mission to find one and ended up talking some college kid in portland into parting his out and selling me the case.

Is there a data recovery program for emails? I deleted a few emails that I will need for legal purposes and its imperative that I get them back. Does anyone
know what or who can help me?

So on my quest for a lightweight laptop, I've ruled out netbooks. Hands are just too big. And cognitive dissonance has set in, because the aluminum Macbook
seems interesting to me. But it's likely because I was able to use it in person, while ordering a Dell or something else not sold locally is always a
crapshoot.
Where do I go from here? The cost doesn't really bother me, but I'm not sure I'm ready to be a Mac person (even if I only use it for the form factor, not for OSX!) |

Dahlia - What email program are you using - recovery depends on the file format the emails are stored. Most have a possibility of recovery. The quicker you can
get to them the better your chances... so if you deleted them months ago - give up hope.
Randy - The Dell Lattitude E6400 is a VERY nice contender in the "light, and small, but not too small" category. Smaller than that, look at the XPS M1330 ...also damn nice. Hope this helps, Joe |

So we're running Office 2002 on my company PCs, and having issues with receiving PowerPoints sent in Office 2007. I've downloaded the Compatability
Pack, but the files still aren't opening.
Any other thoughts on what I should do to get around this? I'd hate to buy one license of Office 2007 when I know I will be forced to upgrade our volume license soon anyway. TIA, Kim |

Kim, there are office 2007 viewers for free out there

I know, Brett. The problem (I think) with the viewers is that you can't edit the files. Really, all I need is to be able to open and save the files down to
an older version. So frustrating.

you'll probably have to ask whoever sent them to re-save them as Office 2003 formatted files. we had a bunch of problems with excel files at my old job and
finally broke down and bought 2007 for the entire shop because we were so sick of the problems
|
|||
ReddEyee |

well Kim you can email them to me and and I can save them as 2003 files or you can ask the sender to open the files and then save them as 1997-2003 format
files.
