Monitor resolutions vary a lot by the size of your monitor etc. Sizes are usually as follows:
2560x1600, 1920x1200, 1680x1050, 1440x900, 1280x800,
1600x1200, 1280x1024, 1280x960, 1024x768
Most common is 1024x768 or 1280x800. Make your image larger in photoshop so that it fits this resolution:
1: Image>Image Size>set the height of the image (width will change accordingly, don't worry if it's too big for the moment).
2: Image>Canvas Size>select the image so that it will equally extend/crop inward equally both sides (should be on this automatically already)> set it to 1280 or 1024 depending.

It might be worth also making the font size larger that you used rather than simply making the image larger, as you'll get lett pixellation.
