Ok so you got lucky I got jury duty on Friday but I was never called...never rent Zach and Miri Make a Porno for jury duty...I love Kevin Smith's movies but I spent half the movie trying to cover up the naked bodies from the nice lady that was sitting next to me.... finally just went outside...should have known better...

anyway...there will be cabs...but there was also this in the email

Shuttles to LAX After the Cruise
Once on board, guests will be able to purchase shuttle transfers from the port to LAX International Airport for a cost of $26 per person. You will be able to buy these shuttle tickets at the Shore Excursions desk or Purser's Desk on the ship anytime before 11:59PM on Saturday night, so make sure to stop by early.

Might have them for Long Beach too..but if not ...there are plenty of cabs.

Kevin Smith is a genius in his own right though.

It has been so windy and chilly today that I'm really looking forward to being in Cabo sunshine.

Actually, I would book the Super Shuttle for when you get back into port on Tues too...it's MUCH cheaper than the shuttle Sixthman is offereing for $26/person. We booked the Super Shuttle both ways for our group of 9 and it's only $13/person

I have everything laid out that I need to pack....spent all day Saturday getting stuff together and I actually had fun doing it! I"m so excited for this cruise...I can hardly think about anything else!

Debbie....so you are doing the wine tasting w/ DRH? I am too, but none of my friends got signed up for it in time, so I have to go by myself!

I heard a radio interview this morning in Atlanta with Jordin Sparks. She mentioned the One Splendid Evening concert on the ship. It sounds like there is a special cover song that she and John will be performing together.

Just a few last minute packing ideas especially if you are new this year.

don't forget that there are no hair dryers in the rooms, at least not any of the boats from Carnival I have been on
bring a extension strip for plugging in cameras etc....the plugs on the ship are limited.
don't forget a clock if you are the type that needs to know...none in the rooms

and since there were none in the box we were sent like last year..if you don't have one be sure to bring a lanyard ..it's the one thing you will really use. room key, sign and sail card, all go on it..

Thanks Debbie! I never would have remembered the lanyard and the power bar is a great idea! I get really anxious right before I leave for a trip...too many things to remember!

I'm so excited I can't stand myself.

It looks like the Splendor does have hair dryers. So maybe that will save an inch in your suitcase!

From the FAQ's on the Carnival website:

Do I need to pack my Hair Dryer?

A hair dryer is provided in the bathroom (Destiny, Triumph, Victory) or at the desk/vanity in the stateroom (Spirit, Pride, Legend, Conquest, Glory, Miracle, Valor, Liberty, Freedom, Splendor and Dream). Hair dryers are not provided in the staterooms of all other ships.

I'm getting excited too. Almost packed. We're leaving tomorrow morning and spending a few days in LA before. I would have never thought to bring a lanyard. Great idea. I'm excited and nervous all at once because I'm afraid that I'm not going to be ready to leave my house for the airport at 5 am.

With Super Shuttle, what time would you tell them to pick you up at the pier? I booked a 6 pm flight out of LA and have a ton of time to kill between leaving the boat and getting to the airport?

i am doing the 4x4 desert thing...quick question to anyone going to OSE....will they be taking our suitcase away as we get on the boat? i am wearing a suit and I dont want to wear it all day....any advice/info?

When you book the Super Shuttle, they will ask what time your flight is and will tell you when they will pick you up. They know exactly how much time they need and will have you to the airport in plenty of time for your flight. The earliest flight in our group leaves at 2pm, so they are picking us up at 11:47am....we will have to hustle off the boat!!

Debbie....I had just put my lanyard on my packing list this morning! It was pretty helpful last year...not sure why they didn't include one for us this year. If you don't want to bring a clock, I think we just used our cell phones to set an alarm last year and that worked fine too.

they said in the email there will be no porters on the day we board for the OSE...so that means we shlep our own luggage on the boat so it won't leave you until you deposit it in your own cabin...

and deb.. three women one hair dryer..yeah, not going to work...

also don't forget to tuck in a jacket...I feel like a mom here, but Long Beach at night and out on the sea on the deck...yeah no so tropical and if they keep that boat the temperature they kept the one last year...you will need something. and I never get cold.

I am getting so pumped. Just one more day of classes and four tests and I am done!

Yea, for OSE I am wearing tights with my dress. It looks cute and I figure it is going to be a little cool right there on the water in Long Beach, so I'll at least be a little warm.

i'm guessing they didn't include lanyards because we'll get them when we check in - it's one less thing we have to remember to pack, and i can't imagine them not giving lanyards out.
