Teri, okay know who you are...next boat...have to say hi, I put a lot of faces to names this time... I always say a good show is half the performer and
half the people around you...next time come find us...we tend to be our own barricade..

We had so much fun! One of the highlights for me were Guster's lido deck show on the last night and the jam afterward. It really
showed the spirit of the boat to see all the musicians up there jamming together and having fun! I was cracking up and loving it every time they started a
new song.
I also enjoyed JM's lido deck show and Justin Nozuka was amazing. I am now a Justin fan for sure! I also loved Pictures and Sound and meeting Luke from the band. He was super nice! I feel like I am still on the boat with all the swaying going on! -Robin

Debbie, you're right...Sixthman totally rocked that cruise! They got everything just right and I, too, have put off the survey thinking I might come up with a suggestion or two and cannot think of one thing I would change. Steve was my favorite as I saw him the most, but they all did a fantastic job. And thank you, Debbie, for recording the events for John's fans! I
can't wait to hear the shows again.
I am somewhat stupified and can't write my account or review yet, but suffice it to say for now that John gave us so much on that cruise that I can't think of how he could ever meet or top it. He was musically great, comically hilarious and socially mesmerizing! More later.... *drops off head in hand*zzzzzzzzzzzz

He played "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns-n-Roses and "Jump" by Van Halen. "Every Little Step" by Bobby Brown brought back memories for me. I really wanted to see Bon Jovi in concert in the 8th grade, but instead my parents got me tickets for Bobby Brown...when Bobby started humping the ground onstage, my dad made us leave. There might have been a Britney song in there somewhere. I thought I heard the beginning of "Rump Shaker," but if so, he quickly moved to a different song. At one point he said, "You will take it and you will like it!" |

yeah my only complaints about his DJing were a) for a musician, he has some pretty bad sense of what you can dance to and what you can't dance to. was
surprised. b) the mixing was ridiculous...nothing flowed into anything else and it took a while to figure out wtf he was playing before you could get back into
it. or maybe i just wasn't drunk enough?????

Reynolds. What John said about all the band being able to stand up and have it all on their own, X10 in the case of Bob, in my honest opinion. The musician he
grew into over last years summer tour became the parts I waited for on every tape! As a failed sax player, he blows my MIND!

I don't even think I can get enough words in to summarize my experience...
Highlights: *The whole comedy routine. Period. I love the raunchy side of people coming out. Possibly a little TMI, but hilarious ridiculous. *Meeting so many great people. *Disco Dance-offs. *Justin Nozuka *O.A.R. *John, duh. Many thanks to Cait for fixing my camera up for maximum picture taking.

i'm trying to string words together for a recap/review, but for now all i can muster (HA!) is: if
i'm still swaying like i'm on a ship, i might as well be on one. point me to the splendido lido deck. i'll be back later when i can truly write.
in the meantime, here's a link to my friend & cabinmate's recap in rolling stone. ~jocelyn

I had a blast, but my natural shyness meant I didn't really meet any of you. I hung out with my cabinmates (and seeing as I didn't know them before the
cruise, that was a very big deal for me) the whole time. Those of you i did have brief chats with seemed really great. I promise to try and be more outgoing
next year.

For those of you whining about his DJ-ing abilities, he was using his computer w/ iTunes and QuickTime, so not the most elaborate set-up ever. He Twittered
about it a couple times and explained how he was doing it. He seemed to be quite proud of himself.

Oh my god, it's been a long time since i've posted here. Regardless, the trip was AMAZING... anyone else feel like you're still on the boat
swaying? Shit... all the catch up work and class is like a lead brick being thrown at your head after a vacation like that. I know my family and I will be in
it for next year (plus a few others hopefully)... My favorite moment: End of the second show. I've never really heard John speak so earnestly to his fans.
He really wanted to convey his appreciation and he did so by playing his ASS off and it was just... GAH! No words. It is so hard to talk about the entire
trip... still in the reflecting period. That, or my concussion from the trip is still with me (true story). Anyone else have a run in with the bunks in the
staterooms? ... and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone sharing the music and videos of the trip. It's really cool to relive it!!! -Caite

Didn't go on last year's Mayercraft, though I could tell this year was special all on its own. Good that were some cool people to balance out the silly
ones. And I do mean silly silly people.
So glad I caught DRH 2nd show, never had seen him live on his own before. So it was worth the wait. I loved the fact that all the musicians up on that stage were just incredible. It was nice to see Chavez again. I was to the left of the stage and noticed some girls needed to simmer down but the show was too awesome to distract me. Really enjoyed O.A.R. and Guster, those boys know how to rock it live. Erin McCarley surprised me too. Funny/Favorite Moments: * Brendan James and a few members getting gently mobbed by screaming girls in an elevator, funny to me, not so much to them * Running out of the disco on the last night like Cinderella due to the boat speeding * Witnessing little kids rocking out *John DJing...oh song choices and dance moves *People who couldn't really dance but gave it much gusto * Live music all day, french fries and more french fries 24/7 At the 2nd JM show, there was a great vibe despite a few weird catcalls. It was here when John was looking for Debbie, two ladies in front of me were waving their hands and he kept asking them, "debbie?" but he knew neither of them were yet they kept wailing their arms around. You could tell it was distracting him from his search. So at one point John said something along the lines of, "no, stop it, you're making everyone think you're debbie." That made me crack up.
After being on this cruise, hearing awesome live music constantly can definitely spoil one as sometimes audio just didn't do most of these artists as much justice they deserved. If I go next year, I'll certainly bring the right kind of stuff for motion sickness, since all that swaying caught up to me towards the end. On the lower floors, you could hear the boat creaking which was a bit disturbing though it did cross my mind that it would have a quite a way to go. Oh and internet fees are no joke, I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one. Alaska is starting to appeal to me now if that is a real possibility as long as everybody rocks out as much as they did this year. I'm always cold regardless. |
