Since DRH has been out that long and John has been plugging him for a while now, it proves my point that the guy is never going to make it big. I don't know why his videos and tapes get posted here. None. I see nothing special about him what so ever. John keeps pushing him on us just like he did Jessie Baylan. *Yawn* Next! |

I don't remember where I read it might have been on the papers they sent with the little box but somewhere was written that the policy was no videotaping
anywhere in the inside venues.... I remember thinking that is odd because I remember during the rockboat people actually set up small tripods...
now don't get me wrong...I don't think there is a thing wrong with video taping...I can't really see a difference...but when it gets lumped in with audio taping...as in "gee they let audio taping in why not video.." then the hair stands up on the back of my neck.... also now it makes me a little sick to see what gets pulled into the tabloids and twisted around and video just makes so much more of an impact... debbie ok cait found it for me... Photography Policy For those of you bringing cameras on board, please note the official camera policy for both Mayercraft Carrier 2 & One Splendid Evening: NO flash photography, NO video, and NO cameras with detachable lenses will be allowed in the concert venues on the ship. Digital cameras are fine, but all guests MUST turn off the flash as it can be very distracting to the artists on stage and other guests. Thank you for your consideration, respect, and cooperation. there came a moment in the middle of the song when he suddenly felt
every heartbeat in the room & after that he never forgot he was part of something much bigger...Brian Andres

Thanks Laila...it's a Sony DSC-H3. I think it's been discontinued and replaced with a similar name. It has 10X zoom and was $300. My camera was
stolen on the plane last year on the way to MCC and I got a replacement in Orlando before I got on the boat. Luckily it was insured!

Libby, I don't EVER remember John inviting us to video ANY of his concerts. Where did you hear/read that? Audio taping has always been ok, but video
taping.....nope. His policy has always been as Debbie just posted....even for his concert tours.

fast forward to 1:00 of what libby posted, monica
he did say that...however, everywhere we went last summer i was yelled at about video when i wasn't even taking video. when you shoot with the motordrive going on the camera, security guards don't know the difference. i actually had to hold out my camera and hold down the shutter button to convince one guard i was just taking fast pictures. often times security guards in the venue are the last to know about taping policies because they're kids working a summer job or something. it really doesn't matter what's been said in the past as far as taping policy goes. the rules change per venue and as artists get bigger, too. i know eric hutchinson used to allow taping and now he doesn't at his shows. there's artist policy, but there's also policy for a venue. jules mentioned upthread somewhere that some venues will charge an additional fee to promoters/artists/etc if videotaping is allowed. it's the same reason some stops on the tour last summer didn't have the cameras going on their big screens. it's very possible sixthman and JM's people came to an agreement on a rate to save everybody (including us boat-goers) some cash by limiting videotaping. i'm not saying what you guys did is at all BAD...just that there's a policy and like monica, i think if we're not careful, cameras won't be allowed at shows at all. i don't think it'll stretch as far as a no taping policy period because john's always supported the taping...but who knows? it could. there's some wives tale to how long a recording can be before royalties are due, but in my research i haven't nailed down what that really means. there's something floating around there saying anything sampled under 30 seconds is fair use...but not sure how legal that really is. anybody know?? bottom line? i would just be discreet about your videos going forward. and yeah, whatever asshat released video footage of the comedy show to TMZ deserves a swift kick in the ass for having zero integrity.

I'm pretty sure that video was on other gossip blogs right after the cruise. TMZ is actually a little late for the party. Don't worry. I don't
think John's sitting at home crying about this. He's sitting in his mansion, working, not giving a shit what anyone thinks about him. At least he
has people talking, you know?

That video was taken from a girl who videotaped at the cruise...I know who she was . She put the video up and when Perez grabbed it she made it
private...It's so easy to take things off of youtube, so easy...If I can do it anyone can. So yeah it was the same video that was put up from a fan, not
one taken from the media.

From what I experienced on the cruise they were only really enforcing the no video policy in the Spectacular Spectacular main theater. They also were really
strict about not allowing detachable lens cameras and flash. Everywhere else on the ship people were taping, using big cameras and flashes and I did not see
one person come up to them and tell them not to. I don't think it's such a big deal that people took a few short videos of the artists to remember the
trip by and you tube is filled with them.

asspoo wrote:I think DRH is talented and his songs don't sound like he is imitating JM. As for making it big I listened to a Sixthman podcast where he said that he didn't want to be famous. That might explain why he doesn't promote himself more. He also said that touring would be "fiscally irresponsible" which is usually the case when artists are trying to break out and make it big. To me it sounds like he is happy playing in the band and getting paid. -Robin |

What happened to the mayer management panel videos? Did those get taken down...? I was digging a couple of those videos i saw. Did anyone catch John
Mayer's q&a on tape?

John has added (subtracted?) a layer by being the subject of so much tabloid scrutiny. He needs to just lay off of baiting and feeding the media, before he becomes Britney and Lindsey combined. And therefore, completely irrelevant to anything remotely resembling music. |

rjrorchild, DRH may have said that, but he's lying. Who would want to paid practically nothing for doing the exact same thing that someone like John is
getting paid millions for? That's like saying, oh, no, you can pay me $1.00 per hour when the other guy is getting $100/ hour for doing the same job I am,
I'm fine with that! Sure, he'd have to deal with fame, but in reality, fame is a very small price to pay for making millions. Just don't believe
anyone who says they are fine not making it big. I guess that means they are fine making peanuts for something they could be making millions doing. Not gonna
believe it. Making it big just means a bigger paycheck.

I really can't believe that people are upset about the rules being broken concerning taping. Lots of people are guilty of taping when they weren't
supposed to be. It doesn't matter if it's video or audio, the rules have been broken. The gossip sites can find those video and audio recordings as
easy as we can. It's not hard. And even if we know that the video/audio has been taped illegally, most of us still watch/listen to the recording.
I agree with Asspoo. John probably doesn't really care too much anymore. He knows when he plays a song it's probably being recorded. He's just praying that he doesn't mess up a song that going to be viewed on YouTube or TMZ a half of million times!

you tire me wrote:Don't want to get too much into this... but it does matter if it was audio or video. I think the point Debbie was making was that audio has always been okay, Mayer has had the same taping policy for a long time - but video isn't allowed. Hasn't been for several tours at least, and apparently not on the boat. So if rules have been broken, it's with the video only... small point but I don't think audio should get stuck in there with rule breaking. And I guess the whole videotaping isn't such a big deal if you are keeping them for private use, or sharing them only with friends in private... but it's a whole lot different when you post them. Personally I'm just happy with the audio tapes...

The only times audio was not okay that I can think of off hand, was three times.. eddies in Dec 05, John said he would release that so no audio taping. Nokia
the first year, when it was filmed for the DVD and Chicago during the trio tour when it also was supposed to be filmed for DVD... I didn't audio to any
extent before 04 so ???
Each of those times had a reason behind changing the policy. I haven't videotaped in forever because I just don't use a camera anymore. I travel with 2 people who are so good I have no need to even bring my camera with me... I think the whole cruise we had what like 3 short vids that I transferred oh and that one of you guys parasailing...teehee.. I think what causes this discussion after the cruise , we had the same one last year, is the fact that this is somewhat exclusive and people feel somehow that they paid their money and it shouldn't be so public???? There were certain events on the boat that were put on just for a specific group of people... I get that. That is sixthman's thing and believe me when you have paid for a boat 5 times it's kinda nice to get to see something that you earned so to speak. I don't know, I was just there for the music.. oh yeah and to see if he would put that borat suit on again
