I really like Caitsings suggestion #3...go home and eat yourself some good home cooking. Have a good long chat with your dad. He seems to be a very wise man

Dear John,
I'm a 17 years old boy from Germany and I meditated often if you would ever hear something about me before I found this thread. And I'm not sure if you really read that now, but probable I only have to belief
Yes, what I wanted to say is that I'm happy that I belong to the elitist group of John Mayer - Fan's in Germany. "Fan" sounds like a screaming girl which waits on the backdoor of the clubs you are plaing in, no I'm not like that, but althoug on a different way I'm a fan of your person and your music!
Thank you for the inspiration and imprint (really the right word? sorry for some misstakes, I'm from Germany ) in my own guitar-play!
Some of my biggest wishes are to speak a bit better English to understand more of your philosophy and to have you as a friend or a mentor and could say "Hey John, it's Tobi. How are you? Can we meet for a guitar-session?"
Oh well (I hope it's the english expression for the german "na ja"), I'm anxious to look how it goes forward with my guitar-play and how you affect me on it. I'm looking forward to your next album! Best greeting from Germany, Tobias. PS: If John doesn't read this message it was the best practice for my English

Seriously Mayer, if she isn't on the guaranteed meet&greet list already, she should be. Copied here in case you miss it on the other thread:
So John, It actually only cost me a dollar a minute and sharing your music has always been worth it...

LOVE the new California song | ||
|
I know the song is in it's fledgling stage(YOUTUBE SUNSET SONG), but something about it is hopeful and haunting and I LOVE IT.
It reminded me of Trust Myself in the early days...it's always with you. I am calling it "The Road".... and You are right to say Thank You to the folks that serve, they have seen things we will never have to BECAUSE they did it for us. Sacrifice and honor is an understatement. Thank you for suggesting that so many others do it too.

Here's my uptake on the entire thing.
When I first heard your name, I wanted to curse you for that damn Wonderland crap. And even when I got your music, I called you Sashquatch and made jokes about how your big headed baby would kill your future wife in childbirth. The point is that after going on the Carrier and hearing your music, everything was placed in perspective. I was on the boat, and I was having fun. I didn't have to be funny or anyone's ___ing friend unless I wanted to. I missed classes and the boat didn't sink. I met a bunch of cool people, talked to the guys from Jessie Baylin's camp, drank wine, got crushes on several men, listened to a bunch of new groups, got my first hangover AND got to laugh at the groupies crowding your brother on One Splendid Evening. I let go for once and as I was doing it, all I could think was the motto of don't pay attention to what others say about the boat. You were passionate as hell about music and it's made me think about everything. I got home and for once I didn't flinch when the customers at work yelled at me about us being out of Japanese Cherry Blossom. I didn't blame myself when I was the only cashier at the register and got yelled at by another employee due to me not knowing she was helping a customer. Instead I took a breath and realized at that moment, that I don't need other people's crap. Bath and Body Works isn't my life's career and I need to find a career that'll make me happy to get up in the morning. And the thing is that when I was on that boat, I discovered that I missed photography, traveling and acting like a woman on slimfast misses real food. So Thank you Mr. Mayer. |

I'm not a regular poster, shoot the last time I posted was quite a while ago, yet I found this thread while lurking a bit.
I could attempt to say something hilarious or sarcastic and deliver it with far less eloquence than anyone on this board, but instead I'm sticking with being sentimental. Sure it's a sometimes, OK often times, frowned upon emotion but here I am. I just wanted to say thank you for being the music my heart gravitates to when it cannot convey what it's feeling. I'll never forget curling up in a ball and listening to "Gravity," "In Repair," "Heart of Life" and "Stop This Train" after my grandmother died in 2006. It was cathartic, because for the first time in my life I was speechless. I left the words up to you and just existed in the notes for a few days. Yes, that reads incredibly corny. The music got me through it. Your music has gotten me through more things in my life than I wish to recall. Most recently, I've found it again after my grandfather was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to other organs in his body. The next round of chemo (he's been through numerous ones and surgery) will combine 3 chemo treatments in one. While it'd be easy to falter right now and just go to pieces about it, I'm watching him be stubborn and hilarious and it makes my heart feel better. The heart of life is good John, regardless of how much it is or has been broken. Thank you for creating the music that reinforces that thought in my life. |

Sara...beautiful post. I'm sending prayers and good thoughts for you, your grandpa and your family. John's music does have a way of getting us through
the hard times. Hearts are very resilient and even the most broken ones manage to keep on beating.

John,
I'm sorry to read what I saw on TryJM this morning. Please know that your whole family is in my thoughts and prayers. I'm roughly your age and went through the same basic situation about two years ago...being an adult doesn't make it any easier; in fact it's probably worse. I wish you, your parents and your brothers strength and understanding, and when you are ready, peace. We've got your back. xo
