SPECIFIC Belief solo tone |
Lead | |
|
If you listen to the original solo for belief on continuum, between 2:35 and 2:40, how does he get that obnoxious rumbling, distorted basssy sound? I'm in
love with it

Something like this

Don't think he uses that pedal....I've never been a fan of digitech.

Just the sound of the amp or pedal he's using. At that point it sounds like he might be using a fuzz pedal for the tone, or possibly just the overdriven
tone of his amp. Who knows what he was using in the studio. Sounds most to me like the response of a fuzzy pedal.

I hear that he uses teles in the studio a lot. after messing around with mine (My Copper '52 Reissue FINALLY got here) the neck pickup, coupled with high
gain and the tone rolled back with the fat switch engaged gets pretty close. still tinkering. actually came across it by total accident. kind of funny you
mention it.

Well I think Mayer has said that he used the Black One on all the recordings of Continuum. Could be wrong and I dont remember where I read that...

^^could be right. We know he did use TBO for In Repair. We do know though for a fact in the video that he does use a tele in the studio though, plus the pics
form his house recently, with that '52 and '64 Princeton.

Well yeah I know he uses Teles now and then. I wish I could remember where I read that about the black one being used...

My bet is that is an ods with a little bit of gain if I had to guess. And Id bet he had the tone rolled back just a bit on the guitar.

All he did was turn down his tone. Learning what the tone knob can do is much more rewarding than buying some overpriced pedal.

Tone detectives, doesn't get nerdier than this. "We do know for a fact he uses..." hahahha

The organ sound comes from the Electro Harmonix POG. Very fun pedal.

Tone Driver wrote: +1 I love using the settings to make it sound like a bass! it is very versatile and can do a ton of different things if you tinker with it. @Juhan: What is funny? they are what we know as truth for what he uses. like you aren't curious ever at what an artist uses for an effect. |

Just they way you said it, "we know for a fact" sounded really geeky.... who's we? I think you are one who is wonderin perhaps a bit too much.
but it's good, its your interest. im allowed to laugh at you though. continue the speculation
