Oh and no offensive to anyone on this baord but over at the gear page, where there's some serious legitimate talent, almost everyone really liked the
performance and the tone.

Good for the Gear Page. I dont think anyone is denying talent here. Liking tone or not liking it is simply the opinion of people's ears. Why is it a rule
that we have to like the tone? Because it's Mayer? Because he's playing expensive amps?

He should use some of his Dumble's and Two Rock's actual overdrive instead of using pedals... I never understood why he uses crazy expensive amps and
then puts a 150 dollar pedal in front of it...MAKES NO SENSE. Let the amp be itself.

Did John have the Klon pedal on for the whole song? Cause I think he just turned the TS10 and the Aqua Puss on for the solo.

i just listened to the youtube clip through my yam hs 50m monitors, and it sounded great! i did notice the klon, and was wondering who else would have...
definitely interesting tone/ direction

I just saw this on TV. Unfortunately, it was interrupted by my brother and his girlfriend mentioning how "lame" it was for somebody to do a cover on
a TV performance. That negativity kind of ruined it! I thought it sounded nice- I liked the guitar tone. The vocals might have been a little low because I
didn't hear any of the words (although i'm sitting back about 20 feet from the TV).
I was hoping to see some hints of a couple things that John has mentioned in the past. He has mentioned about "holding back" his solo's a little bit. More precise and effective choices rather than all out flashy playing. Like, not playing to "impress". I think the solo was smart, still. It was a good performance but I was hoping to hear an old classic or a sneak peek of something new. |

Yeah I understand people have opinions but it seemed to me people were like the tone is terrible blah blah.
anyone can say that they personally didn't like it but saying it sucks and whatnot is silly.

This "place" doesn't need to get over itself. If you don't agree with a statement (such as the Conan performance being disappointing),
don't post in the thread that's dedicated to it. It's just as dumb for someone to come in here and say "no, you're all wrong, this is
right".
jmsdiabr, if you don't like people saying his tone was bad, why add to it by saying that they're wrong? You're just throwing another log into a fire that you're saying you're sick of. Alex98, you're saying 'California Dreaming' is the B side to the new John Mayer single eh? Hmm....I don't know if I agree with that.
