now, on to the picture show!
^Me, talking to Mr. Dickson (just outside the photo. this is why I took the concert pictures. she's really bad at it.)
^Mr. Dickson, again, talking with me (I'm off to the right in the tech cubby) while tuning Clapton's Daphne Blue Strat, the only one on the rack he didn't play for the concert. it is his "reserve" strat, in case something happens to his main two (I'll explain those later)
^Clapton coming on (note the Masterbuilt logo)
^Steve, rocking out
^Clapton, playing (wish this came out a smidge clearer)
^One of the best pics I think I took.
^his keyboard player was incredible
^He was really getting into it!
^Steve, with his trusty organ
^I love this pic because it looks like the light of heaven is shining down on him
^Steve, co-singing "Layla"
^This is the other strat he played. the first one shown was a black masterbuilt version of his sig. what people don't realize about the strat pictured here is that it actually is a Crashocaster. If you examine it closely (Like I did), you'll see the black finish is clear, and the finish looks "3-D", and has diamonds and other shapes in it. it is incredible. the light has to hit it just right though (Plus he didn't turn my way for a pic)
^Steve and Eric together
^Steve, FINALLY turning to face me during "Cocaine"
it was a SOLD-OUT crowd
^Bowing
^Really cool pic right here
ok, now for my story about me hanging with Clapton's guitar tech, Mr. Lee Dickson. So, Members of the EC Fan Club could get in at 6, before everyone else, so we went down to our seats. so I'm down by the stage, and Lee walks out with a Vox Wah for Steve's rig, and while he s setting it up, we start talking. then I mentioned that I collect and own a FCS Clapton strat, so he walks over to the side of the stage, grabs my hand, PULLS ME UP, and we go over to his corner, or "Tech Cubby". so I ask him if Eric will play any of his Crashocasters tonight and he said, "No, he doesn't play them that much anymore. though he has this one..." he pulled the black strat with orange strap out, and let me hold it. (see pics above to see which strat I'm talking about.) then I gave it back, and I asked about the Daphne Blue Strat. So, he pulled that one out and held it to show me. it basically is a regular Masterbuilt Kendrick model, but with the insides of the normal sig strat. so we continued talking while he went and tuned everything. then, when he came back, I told him that he and Rene Martinez are my two fave techs, and if he could sign my program. he said, joking "Nooo, Rene's your fave tech. I just know it." I assured him that he is my fave, so he agreed.
the evidence:
He also gave me a pick. (I got another when he tossed them into the crowd after the concert. had to wrestle some dude who strangely looked like sealo for it)
The pick:
All in all, I had a blast and I hope I get the same seats for the Battle Studies tour!
