Does anyone have any news about a new fan club, or a new custodian of L-83?

I think someone would post it here if they did.
I doubt very seriously if we will hear anything until we need to get tickets for the next tour, whenever that may be.... I think they are just letting people's memberships run out. debbie there came a moment in the middle of the song when he suddenly felt
every heartbeat in the room & after that he never forgot he was part of something much bigger...Brian Andres

Perfect, thank you Debbie! I figured someone would post, but just wanted to make sure that a new post didn't slip by me.

I just got another reply saying L83 is CLOSED through MusicToday. Hm.

what do they mean by closed? i can still sign in and navigate around the whole place without a problem?? my membership doesn't expire until june.

That's a good question. Maybe since your membership wasn't expiring until June it doesn't matter. Mine expired in February and they refused to
extend it like some people said they were.

trust me...you're not missing anything. same design it's always been and nothing profound popping up in the forums.

Is this some kind of contractual battle between Sony and LiveNation? This is a recent interview with the CIO of LiveNation. It is supposed to be about technology, but it indirectly speaks to LiveNation's plans to gobble
up the music industry. Also, for the tldr; (too long didn't read) folks, it is 4 printed pages of really densely packed text in a tiny font. Short
version:
Manna: Right. We offer a lot of different options for people. We try to productize the experience with the result that the experience is more than just a ticket. NOW: And the second front of your "assault" must be with the artists themselves. Manna: Without the artists, we don't really have a way to go to the consumers. So what's the value proposition for the artists? Some of the things that we've been working with the artists involve this notion of a "360 deal," where the artist really becomes invested in Live Nation and becomes part of the company. To do this, we get the rights to their IP, so we can do things like record their shows in HD and stream them and carve them up and distribute them to different content providers, and different things like that. We also want to have tools so that we can go to the artist and the artists' agents and say, "We can manage your tour better, we can manage it more efficiently, we can promote it. We can sell tickets, we can host fan sites and sell their merchandise. We can upsell and cross-sell across all those areas. We're a one-stop shop for you, Mr. or Ms. Artist." NOW: And given the emphasis on tours, they must want to get closer to their fans. Manna: Yep. They want to be more accessible. It's like CRM finally came to the live entertainment business. Band have figured out that the labels weren't really doing them any favors in this area. The labels were distributing through channels. Wal-Mart knew the customer, but the labels didn't know the customer, you know? NOW: The traditional studios must love this. Manna: Well, we have an adversarial relationship, really, with most of the labels. They see us as the threat. They see us as the 21st century label in a way. And I don't think that Michael Rapino really makes any issue with saying that's what he's got his sights set on. Eddie and Stone are holed up working on the new album and prefer to remain out of the public eye to avoid distractions |

Just got this from ...well kinda L83 more like JM.com but thought I would pass it on...
Hi Local-83 members, We want to address all of you who have been so patient and loyal to Local-83 over the last few years. As you may already know, we have put a freeze on any fan club renewals or new memberships moving forward. While John is in the studio working on his next album, we're taking the opportunity to explore new community ideas and better ways to bring you information. In the meantime we've opened up the message-boards on Local-83. If your membership has lapsed you may still login to use the boards and continue to communicate with other fans. Please take a minute to watch this video from the management panel on board Mayercraft Carrier 2, where John's manager, Michael, explains a bit about what's happening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUSPHp-ZnkY&feature=channel_page We would like to encourage everyone to head over to JohnMayer.com and sign up for the mailing list so that we can provide you with updates regarding John's future tours, album releases, and promotions. All future newsletters, promotions, and notifications will come from JohnMayer.com instead of via MusicToday, so please update your information. Click here to sign up. We will still work to bring benefits such as advance ticketing, meet and greets, and other opportunities to dedicated fans who have supported JM. You will be notified as we work out the details on best way to move forward. there came a moment in the middle of the song when he suddenly felt

Anyone else notice that in their L83 account it shows that it has been extended to September 1? I know they opened up the message board for free or something,
but it actually shows that my expiry date has been extended. I suppose they assume they'll have their shit together by September 1, so that's a good
sign.

mine says 9/19/09 ?????
I have no idea. I presume they will have to have something in place when they start to talk about a tour. But I know on the boat they said there was no need for a fan club so to speak...so I am thinking probably just something for tickets??? guess we will just have to wait and find out. debbie there came a moment in the middle of the song when he suddenly felt

hahaha I love how they're not even consistent with the extensions. It doesn't make any sense since my original expiry is supposed to be June 20, so
it's not like they decided to extend for an extra 3 months or anything, just a random September date. Oh, L83, the laughs never cease.
I could care less about that message board, super awesome membership pack, and "news updates" - the only reason I have ever renewed is for tickets, so as long as that sticks around, they'll get my money every year.

kissyfitt wrote:Mine now says 9/1 as well. I know my real expiration date is mid-July. I would like to think the 2 month extension will somehow magically result in some awesome advantage ticketwise, but I know better than to hope for as much. I did like the membership goodies I got; i.e. tour dairy and such. They were icing on the cake of pre-sale tix. I hope they do it again , but awesomely better! Oh, and they were some neat peeps on the board, too, like Shelley, and kyteach, kristy, etc. |

Hello there!
I just got a message on Local 83 that my membership expired. When I clicked on the link to renew, it sent me to the John Mayer store, and I wasn't able to find anything on the renewel. Can anyone clue me in??
