You do realize that the Fender USA plant is only a couple of miles from the Mexico plant, and some of those same people, i.e. Mexicans, are making your USA Strats and tele? I have seen pictures and tours of Chinese and Korean guitar factories, and they are not sweat shops. Get your head out of your ass, and realize the time of forced sweat shop labor has all but come to an end. Sure those places still exsist, but they aren't making guitars.

Buying American isn't going to be an option. You want options? Support local industry and start raising hell with your fed reps - otherwise all the mfg is going to be done somewhere else, unless you build it yourself. My Epi an Ibanez are both Chinese, my acoustic is Korean and I've got 2 MIM strats... my guitar rack is like a Brangelina Family Portrait. Proto and the builds are all USA. I'm feeling you Adam, and the 9 year old might just be better, because at least he gets beaten for screwing up and has accountability. The other guy get's a raise. 10-15 years from now you can be sitting there wondering what the hell happened - or start paying attention to the world around you and doing something about it. Every time that taxes are raised on industry, jobs head overseas for those cheaper operating costs and higher profit margins. The latest veil to let Uncle Sam into your wallet - green energy, cap & trade. just a guy named john

AVRI Jazzmasters down from 2,000+ to 1,000, Road worns teles in sunburst $599, Super Champ XD marked down to 200, price cuts on MIMs. I think Fender made a big mistake when they decided to raise prices in the middle of economic hardships. Gibson has been slashing prices too. MF was running a special when you bought a Gibson $1700 or over you got a free Melody maker. Seems like these type of crazy deals are all over the place

Upgrading the bigsby and pickups will be 350, and then im pretty much even. I played both of them today and couldnt tell a damn difference in feel and play other than a bit more weight on the Chinese, but nothin a little routing wont fix. I say this to fender just like i say it to chevy " make something worth buying (to me), and ill buy it"

What i love are their prices. they prices seem correct. $280 for a nice painted alder or ash strat body AND you get to choose the trem routing. 170-200 for a strat neck with some ACTUAL interesting grain and wood choises, you choose the nut and fret size....and those examples are just their cheapest options. you can get really crazy with some exotic wood. but, you can build a parts caster from them for what the MIM vintage strats went for last year before the hike. If there is one guy you should support in the US, its Lindy Frailin.

Furthermore, these countries have built their competitive advantage on cheap labor and extensive distribution networks. If they were paid more, they wouldn't have a job. It's a moot point. The main issue is when western companies squeeze the manufacturers beyond what is fair and don't keep strong tabs on how they treat employees and then many unscrupulous manufacturers resort to abusing the rights of the employees.

Why shouldn't their standard of living go UP, instead of ours going down.
