With a family history of the disease I can TOTALLY see going ahead and having your daughters immunized, Aurelia and if that shoe were on my foot I'd have to say I'd probably be in line at the doctor's office right now. Overall I'm a big fan of immunization for children against diseases like measles, mumps, rubella and many more that could potentially infect others; Emma's always gotten her shots. But, with this vaccine in particular I feel it's too early to tell what the long term effects might be for these girls and so without any reason like a family history to back it up, the decision to immunize my daughter is one that I'm just not prepared to make. I liken it to having a preventative mastectomy...in some cases patients absolutely SHOULD take those extreme measures but for most it's an unnecessary and rash choice born of fear.
