I want to point out something about Clapton. Now I don't listen to that much Clapton and I'm not saying he'd be in my top 10 but saying he's way overrated gets into my other post about the distinction between importance and ''best'' etc... You can't dent that he's important. I recall Page saying he credits Clapton with being the first to do Marshall + Les Paul. It's stuff like that that make this debate too hard. Theres a huge difference between importance and ''best''. Rolling Stone lists try to mix the two but usually tend to lean towards importance since importance could be argued to imply best (even though often it doesn't like in punk or grunge). Edit: Like I said before, I agree that the best discussion is ''who influenced you?'' like we discussed in another thread. That way, we have new names and we can all take something from it. The ''best'' lists are super predictable anyway.
