I just saw four shows in a row and I have to tell you when I hear people complain that he is playing the same set list, I scratch my head and think, really he did? And I was there. Why don't I feel that way? Look I am sure there are times during the show where he starts up an intro and I think..Oh it's that one again, but then he starts playing and the nuances are different, the timing, the phrasing, the intros the outros what he throws n the middle...even the way the words are sung. And I get lost and that thought about oh he is playing that? doesn't last more than a moment. I get lost in the music.

I think this is what keeps me coming back for multiple shows. I have heard the man do the same set list, or similar but it always feels fresh to me. I can't remember a time I thought wow, that was just like last night. I guess I am detail oriented. I love the fact that yes he played Trust Myself twice, three times? in the last four shows but when he threw in "Don't Let Me Wait in Vain for Your Love" it threw it into a whole other level and I fell in love all over with a song that I had heard so many times. It became a different song. Different meaning, deeper layers. The last night in Wolverhampton he played Edge of Desire, it took what I consider the weakest night of the tour and made it special, because it was new, just like 3X5 the first night, little surprises that keep it fresh... but then he sang Who Says with a Johnny Cash accent and that song that I heard 4 nights in a row became funny and charming and different.

I have no problem with the same set list. I am a junkie for the details and as far as I am concerned, John feeds that habit. Same set list? Maybe. Same details in that set list? Never.
