Nope, bad analogy.

I'm simply saying we're getting bogged down in tone and we're forgetting important things like writing and putting feeling into songs and being creative.

I disagree. I don't think that by discussing tone, we're forgetting about the important things like writing and putting feelings in to songs and being creative. You're making that judgment on a lot of people simply based on what they post here on this board/thread. I don't think that constitutes the entirety of their musical being/output or thought processes. This is a board that comfortably and easily discusses tone and gear. Because they're physical and practical concepts that revolve around things a lot of us can purchase and covet. Creativity and feeling is a little harder to 'discuss' as such. Unless I'm missing the new Electro-Harmonix Creativity pedal - see what I mean?

I do think what you're trying to say is "I'm not concerned about tone because I write songs from the heart." Which is fine, true or otherwise. It just comes off as a little...pissy? But perhaps that's because I struggle more with the creative end and less with the ongoing tonal search.
