See, here is what has happened. I say a couple of sentences, and Brandon and Ben think they have all my opinions figured out and can paint me with one brush stroke.

Ben:  I do think what you're trying to say is "I'm not concerned about tone because I write songs from the heart."--------- No, that is not right at all, cause I've spent years on crafting my tone. I'm simply saying let's not forget about good old fashioned song writing.

Brandon:  So my point? Yes people really shouldn't chase the tone thing so much.....This board does go in circles about Mayer's tone and the answers always been the same.-------- Wow, that is word for word what my only point here was.

Brandon:  Mayer and Bonamassa chase tone ALL the time and that's what inspires them. Mayer takes freaking 40+ guitars on the road with him which is borderline stupid but I bet each guitar inspires him to perform and play in a certain manner, or he just loves his guitars.---------- First of all, how do you know what inspires those guys? Is that all that inspires them? How did Mayer become famous? How did he get his start? What inspired the people to come and watch his early shows with just he and Dela? It was song writing on an acoustic guitar. Good, honest, passionate song writing that people connected with.

Brandon:   TD come on man, I may be out of line here but you know damn well playing with different tone is fun, everyone does it to a certain extent, such as the glass nexus?---------- When did I say anything close about playing with tone not being fun? Did I say stop playing guitar and stop buying pedals and gear and ONLY write words on a piece of paper? No, I said nothing like that. Tone is fun, but I'll say again I simply don't want us to forget about being creative and original and writing something that means something.

So stop putting words in mine and everyone's mouths, and stop assuming all my opinions. Just look at the sentences that I actually wrote.

I love guitar, I love playing guitar. I love crafting my tone. Tone is important. But it is not the only thing. That's ALL I'm saying.
