Fair enough, I've heard Mayer and Joe say in several videos/interviews that they were going for this vibe or that vibe whether it be a certain tone or style of music. Joe became famous because he's an outstanding blues player and has incredible tone, I don't exactly get what your point is because ?Bonamassa surely doesn't have creative lyrics or song writing he just freaking rips like no one else can.

Wasn't trying to put words in anyone's mouth, you simply said a kinda blanket statement about how people forget about being creative and writing music. for a LOT of people, they have to be somewhat satisfied with their tone. I mean it's MUSIC, and a huge part of music IS tone.

But a good point, TD over here has good tone from what I've heard, its not Mayers though, but he probably is pretty happy with it. I'm in the same boat, I am happy with my tone but it's nothing like Mayer's.

People need to find good tone. Whether good tone is through an AC30, an mkII or a JM sig two-rock, you gotta find somewhat of a good tone or at least a tone that you're satisfied with because I really think that's where people get to be creative and become inspired. Now I've kicked up dust when TD and I were probably attempting to say the same thing. But my new thought is, find a sound that you like, whether your budget is 500 bucks or 5k there's good tone in in almost all price ranges. Accept you won't get Mayers tone and just buy a buttload of fun pedals and alleviate GAS through that.
