Rod Stewart gets the writers credit for blues deluxe.

The B.B. connection is the reason that there's similarity, between these two tracks.
B.B. 'found' Joe, and John emulates B.B. ... the only problem is that you haven't picked the right B.B. song.

The man is what 85, and has been playing since he was 12? Played all over the world, wiki doesn't even know how many albums he's got out.

The 3 Kings, B.B., Albert and Freddie gave birth to Jimi, Stevie, and thousands of other players (I'd argue that's way too small a number - more like hundreds of thousands of players). The family tree of inspiration and influence in blues music is pretty damned cool to poke around in.

And 12-bar has a pretty straight-forward formula... I mean it is what it is, and that's why I love the blues. It doesn't ask for much - just respect and your soul.

Or Stevie's Version

Of course, the last time that I posted all this - the rest of the posts were congratulatory to how Mayer was able to nail the style - not whether or not anything was 'similar'.
