It's not how a voice would naturally sing notes out, and lends more to the shredding, Eric Johnsonesque approach to the guitar. Also, his singing, imo is a lot of the time over the top. It seems like he's always yelling and going for broke. I think he'd be that much better if he restrained both his guitar playing and his singing a little bit. Love the music as it is anyway though, and I guess that's kind of his style.
I saw Bonamassa live yesterday and I hoped he'd surprise me, but after seeing the gig I can't agree with you more, especially in terms of guitarplaying. Great tone, some exciting moments, but I was becoming a bit bored at times during solos because of not only the scales, but also the loops/circles, which he plays quite often and quite long....
