Yes, there are a few types of Blues Juniors. I'll give my opinion of each:
Black Tolex BJ: Good starter amp, but will definitely leave more to be desired as far as sound is concerned. Kind of empty and cold sounding if that makes sense.
NOS Tweed Blues Junior: Sounded warmer than the black one. A little muddy for my tastes when I tried it, but I only played it for a few minutes so it's hard to say.
Hot Rod Blues Junior: I played a cream/brown one, and it was really, really great for a starter amp. Sounded a little strident at times, but that could be fixed through EQ I think. Best of the bunch IMO. Next step up from here would be a Fender Princeton or Deluxe Reverbe Reissue.
There are other versions of the BJ such as the special editions or the Pro Guitar Shop special edition with the Cannabis Rex speaker. I can't comment on these since I've never played them. Heard good things about the Cannabis Rex version though. Hope this helps a little.
Also, were you referring to the Hot Rod BJ when you said "deluxe?"
