In this pictures these guitars are using different brands of strings but I changed my OM-28JM's strings same as OMJM's on.
I used Martin SP Lifespan phosphor bronze both guitars are on same strings so I could hear differences clearly when I compare to play these guitars together
but I think strings are not only the reason why OM-28JM sounds dark and bassy.
I've tried Martin SP Lifespan,D'adario,Cleartone,Elixir and John Pearse on it but it still sounded low and bassy.
I think this guitar sound is just dark originally. It surprises to me because OM-28 with indian rosewood back and sides guitar sound like a bit madagascar rosewood.
Now I am wondering how the martin factory built this guitar....It is interesting to think about the specs OM-28JM should be bright like OMJM but doesn't sound like it.
