this cd is just as good as anything as john's ever done. and of course david is the type of musician who could be famous and recognized for his music if he wanted to, but he does things his own way anyway

Subjective, or not, but this is ridiculous to say DRH doesn't want to win Grammys and want to better his life financially by staying in the shadows. Sorry.

he has all of the resources available at the push of a button. he tours with top people like bon jovi, and plays with john mayer. if he's staying in the shadows, i'd say it's by choice. fame isn't for everybody. i can imagine he still makes top dollar playing with who he plays

So why did he reach out to public for money to offset cost to produce album and not have a big record label covering all costs.?. Oh, because he wants his fans to feel they own stock in his work, while it builds up his own self resolve to do things the hard way, all while staying virtually unknown outside of John Mayer fans and making maybe about 1/4 to what Mayer earns for one (1) show, maybe less.?. Yes, just a red button or batman phone away from riches and broad exposure of his work via headlining arenas when he wants......please. There are many talented artist, as he is, but goal is to stay in Ritz Carlton's, not in Fairfield Inns for free breakfast and indigestion. Anyone who makes comments such as yours, screams a person who has the auto mechanism reaction to make excuse for not making it, or more likely, not wanting to grow up. Money isn't everything, but if truckloads are available for free for doing what you love, you take it and better your families life at minimum. This rant is not directed at DRH, but your "push of a button" comment. PS for what I've heard, you can make a very good living playing in a legendary band that plays sold out arenas throughout year, but when main artist takes a year or more off from touring, then it's likely a struggle to earn same income/salary. Sorry....couldn't get breaks for paragraph.
