Brandon, have you played the 73 Martin? Older acoustics can be gems but they can also be a pain. If it's been maintained well and plays well, then it's pretty fun to have an old Martin. A D-28 like that kept in mint condition should hold value fairly well.

Finding one that you really like the looks, sound, and playability of would be my recommendation more than the investment side, especially since this is a reward for a good year of hard work. So if you've gone into some stores and one really spoke to you, I say go for it.

I find that my M-36 looks nearly identical to an OMJM, and highly recommend that model. Price is around 2K for a new one. Only downside is you hardly see one in a store so playing one before buying is tough.
