I don't really think hes that young. Everyone keeps saying hes only 29 but think of Jimi Hendrix, SRV , Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Johnson etc etc they were all legends on guitar before that age. John has been playing guitar for a really long time now and he has been a professional musician for 6 or more years. I think we should expect more from him, he has a signature model strat for god's sake!

he was a better player when he first came out but now I think guitar has taken a backseat to his other life pursuits (thats his choice) Its obvious he practised alot more before. His soloing on AGT, CMT Crossroads, Music Max Sessions, ACL and every live show was quite astounding. He has just changed his style so much that its not that amazing anymore.

If he started when he was 13 and now hes 29 that means hes been playing for 16 years, that is a really long time. To get that good at guitar does not take that long, you guys are probably making beginner guitarists feel like its impossible.

Anyway I'd want to be a much better player than what he is by the time that I am his age. John is a neat guitar player but you guys have to stop worshipping his guitar skills and start listening to some guys who really have it together: guys like Joe Bonamassa and Philip Sayce. They are the same age as John but they are really amazing guitarists and as good as anyone. They don't need 20 years to mature, they are already there. Phil is the closest anyone has got to Hendrix imo in terms of spirit.
