Hey everyone. I sanded the finish off of the back of my Highway One's neck, and had a couple questions. I sanded it last with 600 grit wet sand paper, and the entire thing became as slick as ever. However, when I look closely at the skunk stripe, I notice there are small grooves that follow the wood grain. The grooves are very tiny and barely noticeable in playing, but I'm not sure if this will mess with the neck's moisture over time. Right now, the guitar plays beautifully, but I'd like to make sure that it stays that way.
I've heard of people sanding, and then sealing with shellac or other random wood finishes. Is this necessary to prevent warping? I'm unsure if Road Worn or other reliced Strats from Fender actually have any sort of finish over the bare neck.
