I'm never over...over you.

I'm simply saying let's not forget about good old fashioned song writing.B: How do you know what inspires those guys?

Tone plays a part in creativeness to write a song for me. I purchased a EVH Flanger, when I plugged her in the first time, I immediately came up with a new song idea I would never have come up with. Last night, played for first time my new Cusack Fuzz pedal and sure enough some new inspired playing came out. Guitars, amps and pedals are all part of the creative process equation for me at least. Could I be creative with a Strat, 5-Watt Champ Amp, and a Guitar Cable on an island....yes, just more limited.I got the Cyber Jam thing going in hope that it would make everyone a better player, play more than chat, show each others personality's on guitar or singing, etc...truly a worldwide connection for us that would evolve into more than blues jams, maybe Cait would sing, Hayley harmonize....you get the idea, but it never took off here, seemed like Brandon, Chandler and I every time. I've played over Cait's, Hayley's and others posted tunes, noodlings for good or bad, but yet no one else participates or helps take this forum to another level musically.

CaitSings wrote:i started out learning technique. i had a voice teacher who encouraged us to merely breathe properly and pitch match in the beginning but rarely spoke of actual tone other than proper vowel placement. tone (or timbre as we call it) and fach developed through additional understanding of technique but for the most part was entirely genetic. similar to guitar, tone will also change with repertoire but that's something that's much more controllable if you have proper technique. as a result, mechanically speaking i sing like most other trained vocalists but i certainly don't sound like anybody but me and that's the way it should be with any musician out there. just a small glimpse into my teaching philosophy...

There's a TON of amazing guitar players that are famous for their chops, not the songs they write. Nothing wrong with discussing the tone of your instrument, and how to improve it...whether it be your voice, a drum, a guitar, etc. Ron
