You are right about the CAE board, I thought he might be using a Bradshaw system, my seats at the Richmond show were great and I saw that it was a CAE system, who is Robert Bradshaw.

Here is what I posted (mostly) at jmtabs.com about what gear I thought he had:

Pretty sure hes using a Fender 59 Bassman Reissue, a Dumble Overdrive Special (thats the amp on top of the big cab), and an SMF 15 watter. Dumbles are very rare, and you will easily spend over $5000 on one if you find it. SRV ended up settling on a Steel String Singer b/c the OS was too loud for what he wanted out of it. The SMF is a relatively new amp from the same guy that started Matchless, and can be had for around $1800-2000. I didn't see it at the Richmond show, interesting...

It also looks like he was using a Fender Reverb unit at Richmond, and there was a Vibro-King in the background.

Chaves is using some Line 6 stuff, what a shame. But at least its the newest stuff, they've come a long way since the axis 212...Its certainly not bad, and very handy when you've got a lot of tones to reproduce, but every time I head a solo by him in the recordings they always sound a little flat (not pitch, but depth/tone). A trade-off for flexibility...

The guitar with the stripe was a custom shop edition from last year. I don't think they were very successful, thats why its not available now.

He does play a SRV sig guitar, and he took the pickguard off (just like I would do, no matter how much I love Stevie). The beat-up guitar on the cover of HT is probably an old strat hes picked up along the way. He splurges on guitars now that he has plenty of money, a self-confession.

The acoustic guitars have been pretty much nailed already. the OM-28V or its variations (his own sig) is the one you usually see the most.

The warbly organ tone is certainly the H&K Rotosphere, not the Foxy Brown...thats a boost/overdrive pedal. I've owned both, still own the H&K...

I'll come back and add if there is anything else I come across. Now that he uses a switching system, it would take an inside hint to see what pedals he is using.

I'll hang around this board and see if its any better than the cheesy Local-83, where I get bashed if my post doesn't contain "I LUV JOHN HES PERFECT" or anything in that context

Thank you, it seems most people have a good head around here, thats nice to see.

I have been thinking about the whole "did he use a real leslie cab in the studio", and I'm just not sure. He could have used a leslie cab, like a 147, but it swear it could just be the Rotosphere, hard to say. Nonetheless, as far as I know live its still the Roto, but his leslie sound has changed live, it sounds like it has tremolo on top of it. It was a bit more erratic sounding too. Who knows.

So it would be cool if one day John decided to comment on the gear page, huh? It seems he likes this place better than the L-83!
