^I think we're confused at what you're looking for...
He uses the Custom Audio Electronics Midi Foot Controller to switch between amps and effects and also different presents. That's all I can think of... Oh, and I might be wrong with this, so don't quote me, but it was my understanding that he had all the amps on simultaneously, so I never thought he changed between them much. In the picture, all of the led's for the amps are on, but that just could be a coincidence. It just seems that it would make sense to me, b/c different amps have different tones and eq's, so he could run one of his amps high on treble and low on bass and mids while running another amp with high bass and mid and low treble. This would provide a very "full" sound. Anyone have any opinions on this/maybe know how John runs his amps? |

I'm 100% positive that John doesn't use any other channel on his amps than the clean channel. He said in an interview that he'd rather use the
clean channel as a fresh template and manipulate that with pedals instead of using an amp's overdrive/lead channel. So, this I know is true--but, the
question is whether or not they're all on at the same time. And, as I said above, I think they're all on with different settings and he just switches
his leslie on/off.

The Roger Linn Adrenalinn pedal has an envelope filter setting on it, which is exactly what John uses for that song.

I think he uses the Adrenalinn 1 for Bigger than My Body and he uses the Adrenalinn 2 for I Don't Trust Myself...(maybe someone else can clarify this?)
I'm pretty sure that's how it is though.

I'm a little confused about strings, Ernie balls acoustic 11's which, ernieballs.com says john uses for acoustics. But this list says he uses
d'addario's. I just put some d'addarios on and it sounds nothing like John. Way too bright....anybody clue me in?
