John, if you could answer this, that would be awesome! It's come up on the "The Gear Page" as well as on a video lesson from Michael Caswell (who I have great respect for) that there is some ambiguity regarding what key you wrote the song Slow Dancing In A Burning Room in. Some feel it's it C#minor, some feel it's in E Major. My personal opinion is it's in E Major- it's very Hendrix-y with a lot of his major chord double stops and such, but many also think it's a C# minor tune. I know those are relative keys- but that certainly doesn't make them the same key. I'm wondering how you view the song. Do you think of it as a C# minor (pentatonic) tune or and E Major tune? When you solo in it or improvise- are you thinking of resolutions in E Major or C# minor?
Just curious- to my ear it's a very well written E Major song- to others it's a minor.
