No, I became a fan in 2008, which I stated in my first rant.
Born and Raised isn't even my own personal favorite album. It's second behind Continuum. I'm using it as an achor in my argument because it's John's favorite. It's the heart of his most personal and honest work. So I was using it to try to find a starting point for who the concert was for. This isn't just about me.
Furthermore, I feel a lot of the responses geared towards me and my opinion on the individual song choice as being wrong is really missing the point. That's why I havent stated specifically which songs I like that he didn't play. That's why I said "The part where I didn't like songs that he played is an opinion, but the other part about it being a mess is criticism." My disappointment comes more from the overall tone and performance. I'm not the only one who went who wasn't happy. I'm not the only person in this thread who wasn't happy. All 5 of my friends, who some don't like even the stuff of his that I do, weren't satisfied either. Most of the people who have responded to me have not been to a show yet this tour and I think to defend and assume already that my criticism is incorrect is the wrong mindest to have. You're going to see a performance and what the artist does during in that performance should dictate whether or not you like it, not any preconception."This tour has been his most well received since Continuum."
He has played 3 dates. Way too early."If you want to define your music choice by a genre then that's your choice."
It is somewhat about genre, but it's also about tone and quality."But if you can't see that the message of the songs are the same, that is your blindness."
I compared Your Body Is A Wonderland to I Will Be Found and I do think that "Let's have sex all afternoon" to "I will accomplish what I deserve" are two different things, yes.
I am disappointed that I am disappointed in the show. The more I've thought about it, the more disappointed I become. I spent hundreds of dollars and waited 7 years in between seeing John Mayer live. I really wish I liked it. I'd try to justify it, but that would be wrong.
