Life of Pi is awesome.
-Chandler "I'm Ashton Kutcher and I LOVE Justin Timberlake! Why am I so KICK-ASS?!?!"
"I got mind control over Deebo. When he say shut up - I be quiet. But when he leave, I be talking again." |

Quote: *insert scream here* I'd say Into The Wild by Jon Kraueker. Krakuer. Krauker. same sh*t different toilet. It's more of a biography, but damn it's good. Some of you probably heard about the guy who traveled across the nation to get to Alaska. He got there, and then I'm going to stop telling the story. |

Here are some of my faves, don't know if they'll be up your alley or not. The genres are all over the map.
Good in Bed - Jennifer Weiner Talk Before Sleep - Elizabeth Berg Virgins - Caryl Rivers Beach Music - Pat Conroy Educating Esme - Esme Codell Savage Inequalities - Jonathan Kozol Harry Potter Series - JK Rowling Render Up the Body - Marianne Wesson Later I'll post a favorite authors list for writers that I can't narrow it down to one book or who write series work. Have fun on your quest for reading material! Oh, and you might wanna check out www.chicklit.com. Good resource for literature finds. |

I too slept on that one in high school. People say it's a great book, i'll keep being close minded and pass on it!

Really? I liked The Great Gatsby. And The Sun Also Rises. Along with several other books that many other people thought were boring.
With The Sun Also Rises, I thought it was pretty funny that we were sophomores in high school and reading this book where the characters are shitfaced at least 75 percent of the time, and the protagonist's big problem is that he can't get it up. Go, public education. Rock on. |

Come on now, what is a good read without STEPHEN KING. I highly recommend the novel "IT". In high school, i went on a king reading streak. the man's gotta be pretty fucked in the head to come up with this kind of shit.

I *loved* Hearts in Atlantis. The movie didn't do it justice, not even close. The story they chose to make (Low Men in Yellow Coats, I believe it was called) barely even makes sense without the Dark Tower tie-in...you never understand the menace that is chasing Ted or how dangerous it is, which is one of the major things that drives the story in the book.
Not to mention the fact that what makes the collection so heartbreaking and powerful is its commentary on the Vietnam era...which the movie doesn't even touch on. |

the 'tomorrow' series - john marsden - possibly the best 7 books I have ever read. It starts with "Tomorrow, when the war began". Small Sacrifices - Beverly McDonald - I don't think I ever cried so much over a book! To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee Great Expectations - Charles Dickens Stupid White Men - Michael Moore. I'm sorry, I can't be perfect - A Simple Plan

I also heard just a day or two ago that the Life of Pi is awesome. Here are some of my favorites:
To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee) Sophie's World (Josteen Gardner...its a fictional book about philosophy and philosophers) The Giver (Lois Lowry...EASY read, but awesome book). Desert Solitaire (Edward Abbey...environmental) Harry Potter series, duh. Yeah, there are more, but those are the ones sticking out in my brain right now. If you want a thinker, then I'd recommend Sophie's World or The Giver. Both are definitely "thinkers". -k. |
