Seriously, I never knew that there were so many romance novels, nor so many sub-genres. *Quote:* With The Sun Also Rises, I thought it was pretty funny that we were sophomores in high school and reading this book where the characters are shitfaced at least 75 percent of the time, and the protagonist's big problem is that he can't get it up. Mel, was that the main characters or Hemingway himself? Here are a few of my recommendations... The Lovely Bones by Alice Seabolt The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J. R. R. Tolkien (this might take you awhile and you have to kind of scan through some of the dense descriptions Tolkien gives, but it's worth it. On a side note about Tokien, I swear he never met a description he didn't like.) The Green Mile by Stephen King Watchers by Dean Koontz (anything by him is great, especially his earlier work. He's a favorite author of mine.) In Cold Blood by Truman Capote If you like children's/young adult lit. (like me)... Witness by Karen Hesse Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo The Giver by Lois Lowry The View from Saturday by E. L. I tried to recently go back and reread it with an older perspective, but to me, it still stunk. Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	A Separate Peace- I read that my freshman year in high school and I loved it Catcher In the Rye- going along with the private school theme Native Son- kind of violent, but he is a great writer Heart is a Lonely Hunter- my mommy told me that all girls should read this book. In Cold Blood- One of the first true crime novels Walk Two Moons- very moving Lovely Bones- disturbing, but powerful Lord of the Rings series- good luck Rule Of the Bone - the author either was the kid in the book, or had a son like that.
