Until now, I've been stuck on Stephen King, and I just knocked out Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons", since the movie's coming out soon. It was a good read. Fun and easy. But mad props if you read Pynchon.

Bought "V." by Thomas Pynchon today. I had to read one of his books ("The Crying of Lot 49") in my final semester of college, so I felt
cool buying it, because his books are pretty heavy with themes and such. Should be interesting...

anyone here maintain a book blog, or even one not book-themed, with a significant readership? my company (The United Methodish Publishing House) is wanting
bloggers to read advance copies (sometimes just a few chapters) and write about it. you get a book advance, we get some promotion, so it works out. it'd
all be Christian fiction I think, but i'm not 100% sure. if you're interested, send me a PM. thanks

i honestly have no idea what kind of books they are, nor what makes them Christian exactly, it's a new category they started a few months ago |

I just finished Extreme Measures. For a Mitch Rapp book, it sucked.

For those that were irritated by the author of "Eat, Pray, Love" but kind of dug the theme of it... "Tales Of A Female Nomad" by Rita
Golden Gelman is just a delicious book. Apparently her children's book "More Spaghetti I say" is quite well known in the states?
http://www.borders.com/on...itleDetail?sku=0609809547 And she's a toootal bleeding heart liberal, which made me love her more An interesting lady, with a really fascinating story and a wonderful perspective on life. More about her on her site here:
http://www.ritagoldengelman.com/ I'm currently reading "Almost French" by Sarah Turnbull about an Australian girl who falls in love with a Frenchman and takes a gamble, packs up her life and moves to France. Anyone else know of any great Travel Memoirs? You can take all the tricks up my sleeve.... |

actually, one branch of my stepfamily is mormon, and their bookshelves are filled with young adult & children's mormon fiction books. basically like
any young adult books you'd read, just less sex and "how can i make this guy like me", and more friendship and "how can i make this guy come
to church with me". i'd be willing to bet that there already exist general protestant-themed books in this vein.

shotgundmb wrote:I just finished this too! I meant to tell you about this too em as I figured you'd read it. It definitely rated as probably the least enjoyable mitch rapp story but I'm sure I'll continue to read anything flynn writes. I miss the thomas stanfield days. |

I think (hope) it's a set up for the next book - something big happens, as he now has the senate's approval to do anything he wants\needs to get the
bad guys.
I like the Mike Nash character. I hope there's more of him in the next one, too.

Em/Joey- I agree, all in all, my least favorite Vince Flynn book so far, but honestly, he has written so many good ones I will forgive him! I am really worried
that soon something will have to Mitch and they will start writing Mike Nash books...I will cry!
