I am completely hooked on this show. It's so good to see Matthew Fox back on TV...
Is anyone else watching? (I've looked on all 20 pages, so if there is a thread already about this, then feel free to bring it to my attention....) To ask, "Is my anger legitimate?" is similar to asking, "Do I have a right to be thirsty?"

I was wondering if there would be anything that would fill the void of Alias not being back on until January - and then this came on. So, so good. The man is a genius.

yeah, it was definitely interesting how they are writing the sawyer character.
finding a way to feel compassion even for the asshole. next week looks good,...we are starting to get some answers about the island. |

What hooked me was episode 4, the one where they show the history of the bald guy, Locke. Talk about a surprise ending....I actually gasped at a TV show.

I'm very curious about some of the other people's backgrounds that they haven't dealt with yet. Like the pregnant girl, and the brother & sister. I just love that they are doing things gradually. Like the episode that had a bit of Matt Fox's background - they gave you some insight, but left questions unanswered to go back to. Very cool way to get people addicted.

The only thing is that some of my friends that haven't seen the show from the beginning say that they are a little confused. If you miss a show or two, you miss information that they don't really explain later. That might be hard when you're trying to build a fan base. People say the same thing about Alias.

exactly, and to explore how their past affects their role on the island...fascinating.
i want to see sayeed's story too...i'm thinking that's next week, since the previews indicate he'll be heavily featured. we know he served in the iraqi army during the gulf war, but there's got to be a huge backstory involved with that. |

I didn't get into Alias until last year. My friend bought the dvd's of season one and two and while I was watching those, she was taping season3 for me. I watched seasons 2+3 in 2 days...I am sooo hooked! Thank goodness for friends like her!
I guess someone could wait for the first season to come out on dvd and watch it then. Or wait and see if they rerun at some point Mel C.

i watched an episode or two of this, but it builds way too slowly for me, so i gave up. i want to know what the fuck the monsters are, and i want to know everyones backstory, thanks. i can't watch a show every week, so i need to be able to pick it up where i left off (or care enough to download misses eps, which i don't with this show).

Yeah, the website for the show says that he finds the source of the French transmission and things happen, yada yada. I want to know who the woman is in the picture he had with him. And why he was in Australia.
I, also, am curious about Kate's criminal history. Did you see that kiss last night with Sawyer? I think she liked that! No little peck on the lips there. To ask, "Is my anger legitimate?" is similar to asking, "Do I have a right to be thirsty?"

When the marshal asked her to kill him, it was like he was asking her because she had previous experience. I'm thinking what everyone's thinking - ninja assassin!

Love this show! It's rare to find a drama that both my husband and I can watch. It kind of has a twilight zone feel yet more character driven.
I'm just wondering how this is going to be a continuing series. Already I have several suppositions and I wonder how long they can extend the "Lost" idea before we find out what really is going on. Notice how each character they have highlighted has some sort of unresolved issue? Dr. Jack with his dad. Kate with her mysterious criminal past. Sayeed with guilt over his war past. The Korean couple with their marriage. The father and son who never had a chance to know each other. Sawyer with his self loathing at becoming the very thing that destroyed his family. From the moment Jack started "seeing" his dead father and when the one woman said her husband wasn't dead or she'd know (and they haven't showed her in quite a while) I thought maybe THEY are the ones who are dead or trapped in some sort of limbo. Maybe they have to resolve certain issues in their lives before they can move on and be "rescued". And what did the bald guy SEE that time when he heard the thing coming towards him? He said he saw "the heart of the island" in his vague way. I think he knows and understands way more than he is saying. Another nugget from this weeks episode. My faith in bald guy as the benevolent one (he helped Jack face his fear of leadership and helped Charlie overcome his addiction) were sorely tested when he seemed to be suggesting that Sayeed go after Sawyer by handing him a knife and planting ideas in his head. But then I wondered, was he forcing the confrontation so that Sayeed would have to face his own demons? Remember how shaken Sayeed was when he let that part of his past emerge and tortured Sawyer? That is why he went away on his trek to find the transmitor. Maybe this was all a part of baldies "plan". Somehow I think this bald guy (damn why can't I remember his name!) is the key or an integral part of what is going on. See, this is why JJ Abrams hooks me every time! He creates shows that tantalize and each episode seems to leave you with more questions than the last. Aurelia |

Locke is the name you are looking for.
I see it like this. The "monster" is there to kill the people who shouldn't have survived the crash. it's why that one girl drowned and the marshall had to die. they have no reason to be there. Everyone there has a past and something to overcome and until everyone overcomes their shit, no one is leaving that includes the french girl and whoever else is there. It's so not about the monster anymore. the characters are so amazingly written that it's the least of your concern. go to twop for spoilers and that nonsense. I do everyday! Racharoo No Pity.
