Oh, my mama rocks hardcore.
"BU--SH--!" That was effing CLASSIC. You're from Iowa City, aren't you? As it's Iowa's one and only Democratic faction. It's definitely almost candidate overload here. I'm partial to Edwards; I like the idea of having someone in office who's actually worked to achieve their stature, as opposed to getting it handed to them by their daddy. A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, You're in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2346 feet above sea level. You are 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude. She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican." "I am", replied the man. "How did you know?" "Well",- answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me." The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat." "I am", replied the balloonist. "How did you know?" "Well", said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and you expect ME to solve your problem. And you're in EXACTLY the same position you were in before we met, but somehow now it's MY fault!" ----------------------------------------------------------- Holly, you'll definitely have to start a nice political thread once the candidates for the primaries are announced. I would, but we all know what an anger-fest that would turn out to be! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________

merde, it's so sad I can't even laugh anymore!
And Randy, yes, we will start that thread soon. You're safe, Dood, I think the last time you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, astrologically and board-mood speaking. I always value your knowledge about the political scene. It's a refreshing break from my knee-jerk, emotion-based liberalism. And, bizarrely off-topic here, my husband once performed a wedding ceremony in a hot air balloon. The couple were Democrats, and my husband was A Republican at the time. anyone watching any of the Democratic debates? Any comments one way or the other?
And I understand the silence could be deafening on this query.... _________________

I didn't watch the debates, but I did see Al Sharpton on Hardball with Chris Matthews tonight.

Re: stickers | ||

Those sticker ideas are hilarious, and the ones that someone else posted are great too. I'm not sure who the Democrats are going to pick, I think Dean and Wesley Clark are probably the front runners as of now. I'd like to see John McCain run again, he's got the experience and the personality.

Re: stickers | ||

I personally like Clark -- it goes back to the whole Iraq fiasco in March. But I do like Dean (the other front-runner with Clark) as well, and would be happy if he got the Party nomination. My friend is working on the Clark campaign (and the tailor department at my store fixed one of his suits!
I didn't see any of the debates, unfortunately, although they were in my backyard for one of them, figuratively speaking, of course. After the first one in Phoenix, Clark was leading, but after the Charlotte debate, I don't know who was in the lead. I'm actually looking forward to this election, though. Carrie |

Debates have been while working...so missing them
I still support Dean over the rest...but in the end of course, I'm a loyal party member. I have issues with Clark in that the establishment pretty much pushed him into the race so that there was a moderate dem on the ticket. It's interesting to see the polls from the various states. Seems to be at this point a 4 way race- Dean, Clark, Gephardt, and Kerry with Dean and Clark at the top. ~dawn

Re: stickers | ||

if dean wins the nomination, dem party goes to hell, no way hilary could win in 08
clark wins nomination (with the people that ran clintons campaign in 92 and 96), dems do ok, but dont win election good chance hilary could win in 04 hilary doesnt want a dem to win because if they do, then shed have to face an incumbent and she couldnt win |

Re: stickers | ||
|
that's a stretch...you really think that hilary would prefer 4 more years of bush just so she would have a good shot at the office? i'd like to think she'd be confident in her chances vs a dem incumbent.

Re: stickers | ||

Gotcha....do you think the Clinton campaign people capable of "throwing the election" for that reason? Or maybe they chose Clark thinking it would naturally pan out in favor of their plans?
