Would have been nice to see DRH up close and singing solo, but for me, some memories just can't be topped. Like Austin City Limits, one of the first shows
after Continuum's release, and being front row with good friends. Glad everyone else had fun, even Mayer so it would seem.

I am wondering the same thing about these tapers...did john just go legit..played with Dave in Virginia...WTF?
where were all these guys during the trio? this is amazing that we get so much of this taped and these tapes have been stellar. Yeah for tapers... and Roll that pic of the vacant room..might just be my new screensaver.... debbie

Also, Roll... Nice picture. Maybe photoshop me in there, though, 'cause I actually do like the guy. I just thought it was funny everyone was so excited over Panama and then that guy was talking about Brett Dennen.

I thought it was as cool as it sounded. John's guitar was amazing. Now this is the second Eddie Van Halen cover and I am totally blown away. Much much better than Beat It. I thought it sounded shitty. It had no personality whatsoever in that solo. DRH's vocals weren't great. It kind of killed it for me. I don't know. Maybe because I totally grew up on early Van Halen and they were my first concert (courtesy of my dad) and anyone other than Roth singing stuff from 1984 sounds like bad karaoke. I have no comment on Sammy Hagar, never heard him live when he was the lead singer of Van Halen. This gives me hope that JM is branching out with other covers. Personally I think it would be sweet to hear some Journey when he comes to Shoreline next week. |

last night was the best i have seen mayer yet!! the whole show was perfect to me, and not too short like some other people are saying. crossroads was
unbelievable, and i loved when he sang a little of aerosmith's "what it takes" in SDIABR. i flipped out when JM and DRH started playing
panama...such a treat and so glad i was there to witness it!! especially from 5th row :)
anyone else catch his setlist slip up? he gets so lost in his music sometimes! haha can't wait for the tape of this to surface!

ok, I cannot WAIT for my upcoming shows after seeing Panama---I was a huge Van Halen/Def Leppard fan back in the day, so this was just too much fun. Kept waiting for John to do the trademark inside out crescent kick of David Lee Roth's...he's a martial arts student, he so could have pulled it off.... And would LOVE more of DRH singing lead anytime!! Thanks for sharing that video, it made my day! Lez |
