When I was a kid, when I was a little boy, I always wanted to be a dinosaur. I wanted to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex more than anything in the world! I made my arms short, and I roamed the backyard, and I chased the neighborhood cats, and I growled and I roared and everybody knew me and was afraid of me. But then one day my dad said "Bobby, you're 17. It's time to throw childish things aside." And I said, "Okay, Pop." But he really didn't say that, he said "Quit being a fucking dinosaur and get a job." |

P.S. Sam, if you don't think this woman is gorgeous, you are batting for the other team.

I just wanted to throw out that I don't dislike Dennen. I just saw an opportunity for a joke.
But I can understand how those of you who go to a ton of shows could be sick of him by now. |

I was sick of Brett Dennen after the first time I saw him. He's just not my cup of tea. And honestly, I'm tired of Colbie too.

Sara over Colbie any day. Looks wise, music wise, personality wise, everything wise. PS: Colbie has never and probably will never be this badass:
So yeah, Sara B FTW.

Fuck the haters, this is a sweet concert. It is easy to say, what would we do without tapers, but perhaps the question is, what would we do without people who
allowed taping?

couple of days later, but here we go: I drove 7.5 hours to DC from North Myrtle Beach, SC for this show, picked up my friend, and drove another hour north (b/c
of traffic) to Merriweather. The venue was nice but looked kind of old, and it was crazy overcast when we got there. We got into the gates and I went
straight to the merch and bought some shirts and some food, and as we headed to our seats, it started raining pretty continuously. Once we got seated, the
bottom DROPPED, and it started monsooning on Columbia, MD and all of the DC area...thanks for the covered seats, L-83...
Anyway, the atmosphere was perfect for a show, and I'll give mad props to the lawn for stickin' in there and stayin' rowdy through the weather. Brett Dennen got on stage and belted a few songs out, and my friend asked if he was a guy or a girl...thought that was pretty funny. He told everyone to register to vote, which you SHOULD, and then he finished up (finally...) And then, MAYER came on stage. He opened it up with Vultures and went straight into 3 more Continuum songs. Overall it was one of the best combination of songs I've seen him play in that he changed the mood up every few, going from Continuum, to a ROCK feel, to a break for the BLUES (Crossroads, Mercy), to acoustic (NST into Why GA, then Free Fallin'), and ended with some preaching before Belief, followed by Say. I'll go ahead and say that he played the COOLEST version of BTMB that I've ever seen. He changed it up a lil, and they sang the chorus at a lower pitch, and ended the song with a SICK rock outro...you could tell this was the mood he was going for all night. Crossroads was amazing, and MERCY was straight up BLUESY. NST was cool in that it literally WARPED into Why Georgia towards the end of the song... The encore was great too. He came out with "Who did you think I was" (the voted song) and played it SOLO ELECTRIC. After he killed this, he turned to the crowd, took his shirt off, gave DRH the mic, and rocked OUT to Van Halen's PANAMA! I know this has been talked about like crazy, but DAMN it was awesome! They were just having fun, jumping around, while John's guitar ALMOST caught on fire 9 times! Literally, 9 times! He ended with the ol' blues prayer, Gravity, which is different, heartfelt, and amazing everytime he plays it... I know a lotta people have worried about how "short" the show was, but from what I saw, he put everything into the amount of time he played. FUNNIEST QUOTE OF THE NIGHT: John points to a sign in the audience, and says "That girl is holding a sign that says 'John, I'll be legal in 2 years'", and he said "Ah, well I'm a pervert now! Hit it J.J! (drum joke beat). Then he said, "No, no, that's mean. I shouldn't call that out. But watch this. I'll redeem myself by playing this next song...here we go...". And he breaks into NST... Haha...what a NIGHT though! And what a tour! Gotta love how much he's changing things up. Can't wait to see him in NC next month! favorite Picture I took:
